I received a box today via priority mail, with glass parts to a vintage ceiling fixture. I did not buy these nor did I pay for them. The return address is scribbled on the box. It did have tracking so I entered the number and it only tells me what post office it originated from. There is no invoice or paperwork included in the box.

Since I opened the box, can I seal it back up and write return to sender on the box?

I'm sure the buyer of the lovely glass items would like them.

Do a completed search on Ebay for the items you received. Find out who the buyer and seller is. If the seller's name is someone you've recently done business with, he's probably got your package mixed up with someone else's. In any event, email him and let him know you have someone else's merchandise.

If you can seal the box so that it doesn't look like it was opened, you can just write "Return to Sender" on it and you won't have to pay to return it to the sender.

I would do as Sparkz suggested and offer to send it on to the right person if the seller will pay for the postage (which I'm sure they will). It will be much less expense to do it that way.
This is why a note or letter should always be included in every package. I have a form letter I print for everything I ship which includes my ID and my email address.

I finally figured out who the package is from. A seller I purchased an item from about 2 months ago. I sent the seller an email asking if this was their package and told them I did not purchase it.

I received an email pack saying, "It's my package it was suppose to go to someone else".

Sent another email what do you want me to do with it?

Received an email back, "I don't know, I'll let you know".

Tell the sender that you will be glad to ship it to the right buyer , WHEN you receive payment for the postage.
