I had a company taking a monthly charge from my paypal account using my virtual debit number. I canceled the service about 5 months ago but they kept charging via the virtual debit number.
I called pp to see what I should do and the customer service guy said he could report the virtual debit stolen. I made him promise me it wouldn't effect my real pp debit card. He said that there was no way that it would and proceeded to cancel the virtual card.
well...shortly after I headed to the post to ship my daily bounty and my stinken card didn't work.
Long story longer the guy clicked the wrong button and reported my real card as stolen! After about 3 calls and an hour on hold I was told that there was nothin they could do about it. This left with me with 50 bucks to live on for 7 days and no way to pay for shipping.
This part is sort of funny. Except for the last guy I spoke to, the service people at pp really didn't seem to give a hoot even thou it was their fault. After putting me on hold for 20 minutes to speak to the debit card dept the last guy to help me came back on the line with a really sheepish voice and said" sir...i hope your not going to yell at me...but there is nothin i can do for you. I bet you want to kick that other guys ass don't you?" I couldn't believe he said it. It still makes me smile when I think about what he said.
Well...thats my pp story.
sincerely,
waiting for my new pp debit card in michigan

You would think since it's there fault they'd put a rush on it or overnight it something! I just started using a Paypal debit card, and I'm just waiting for something like that to happen to me. I don't trust them, but like Ebay, they're the only game in town!

camodog...I know this is to late but theres a spot in Paypal where you have to cancel the virtual withdraw payment ...Click on last withdraw payment they took and at the top will be a ref. number to the subscription, click on it...you can cancel it at the bottom of the page, They may still charge your account if you don't go stop it cause it goes by your e-mail address . Just asking the company to stop won't be good enough.

Toasted is right. You have to cancel it through your PayPal account. Not to sound mean or anything, but I can live on $50 for 7 days (not comfortably, but I can do it) AND if you print your labels through eBay or PayPal, you don't need your card and you don't need to go to the PO. Just order a pickup of your packages. Now, when they start allowing International postage through the web site, I'll be a real happy camper!
The "virtual" debit card is your debit card. When you report it stolen, it applies to your physical card as well. You're using the same card number online and physically. How can there be any difference? Someone (surprise) at PayPal didn't know what they were talking about. Same applies to your bank debit card.

Yes I learned to use shipping thru PP. I also discovered it was a pain in the butt. Took me about an hour to process 7 packages. Maybe it was the learning curve...more likely my slow internet connection.
No...the virtual and plastic debit cards are different. Different numbers also....
50 bucks doesnt go far for a family 5. Thankfully a couple of snail mail payments came in. He does provide...thats for sure. No worries here! Well maybe a few.....
