I've been doing no reserve auctions for the past month or two with a low starting price to make sure things stay moving - I've been surprised how well it's gone. I don't charge much on handling either, and I'm a pretty straight shooter as well. I'm trying to build a following and a reputation. This guy has some good stuff - and great feedback - he's somewhere in New Jersey - I'd love to find out where he's getting his stuff!

Usually I can go a whole month without listing anything OTHER than $1 / NR. It requires that I talk nervous consignors into doing it, and I usually succeed. However, this summer my heart hasn't been into my "spiel", so there have been many elevated starting prices.

Jack, a $500 guitar I'd probably start at $0.99. Now, a really EXPENSIVE guitar I'll start at $1
It is scary, and sometimes you'll get stuffed, but it seems to work most of the time; I'm only taking 3 different blood pressure meds, 4 anti-anxiety meds, and 1 dose of Prozac a day now.
What's REALLY scary is trying to talk some consignors off the ledge on the last day of a listing

Shipping is a little inflated. $37 is a bit much for a mixer especially when 9 times out of 10 this type of seller puts a shipping label directly on the box and let it ride.

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

Shipping to me calculated to $19.10 (zip code 07041). If he has a daily pickup, it would be $7.86 plus insurance if final price is over $100. Even taking it to a UPS Store is $11.74.
Considering that he indicates that he will quite likely ship in the original box, that's a lot of handling involved in printing the sticker... and I'm a guy who consistently supports handling charges.
