Do not know if it is a good program since I have not used it except to acquaint myself on how to use it after downloading. A couple of days ago someone here suggested going to downloads.com and downloading Irfanview. Supposed to be virus free and safe. If you play around with it, I thnk you will find it as user friendly as any. Worth a try and if you don't like it, it would be simple to uninstall.

Ralphie highly recommends FREE IrfanView!

you can get a basic edition of JASQ paint shop pro for free for 30 days. The full edition is only 59.00 (BIG difference from photoshop) I used it for years before actually buying the full spread. I have photoshop now, but still prefer working with PSP for various reasons.

Ya mean, like this?

1)OPEN any image in IV...
2)USE yer cursor to create a box on the image (you place yer cursor in an upper LEFT corner & drag down towards lower RIGHT)

3) Select EDIT from top toolbar, from that MENU, hit...
4) INSERT TEXT

easy-peazy!

FutureRich:

Ye can also make the background transparent as in this touching, though itchy example:

Off the EDIT menu...

When you bring up the ADD OVERLAY TEXT TO IMAGE box, look 1/2 way down, & you will see the check-box...

CHECK if you want TRANSPARENT BACKBROUND...

If you REMOVE the CHECK, then you are prompted to choose a COLOR for the BACKGROUND BOX...

Thanks Tom. I've never tried it before and didn't know where to start.

Sorry my inmstructions ain't so great!

Tis easier when Ralphie demonstrates how to do it, as opposed to trying to write up instructions!

It really is extremely easy -- just open an image & play around -- you'll be amazed at all the goodies included in IV!

Anyone ever try the Gimp? Its much more advanced than Irfanview and its also free. It works on Windows, Linux, Unix and Macs.
