I'd go out right now and buy a hand full of lottery tickets. You folks just dodged another bullet. This one could become a hurricane by tomorrow:

If I lived in Florida, I would get the hell out & move to Santa Maria, CA. No hurricanes, No Tornados, No earthquakes. Just beautiful weather. Our high today was 73, the low was 53, the high for this day was 82. I sleep with a blanket every night

If I lived in Florida, I'd build my home underground. My father lives on the Gulf and I understand he's in for a bumpy ride this season. To me, it's not worth it. I'll take the five months of snow and cold thank you very much. It doesn't really get cold until December. Unless, of course, you have a winter like the last one. That sucked.
Besides, the humidity around here kills me and I hate bugs. I can't imagine my living in Florida.

I have lived in Florida for 32 years 2 miles from the Gulf and so far have lost 1 tree and 2 roof shingles. The people that have seen the bad damage are a very small percentage of how many people live in Florida. We are given plenty of warning when a Hurricane is coming.
I lived in the midwest growing up and I find Tornadoes much scarrier than Hurricanes.

I lived in Florida for 40 years,in fact I was born there. I would rather live in Kentucky anytime. Great weather and much less people. And a whole lot cheaper to live here.

If you have never resided in the Sunshine State, or been based in hot, humid, Florida, you?may not understand the following:
Bless this house, oh Lord, we cry.
Please keep it cool in mid-July.
Bless the walls where termites dine
While ants and roaches march in time.
Bless our yard where spiders pass
And the fire ant castles in the grass.
Bless the garage, a home to please
For carpenter beetles, ticks and fleas.
Bless the love bugs, two by two,
The gnats and mosquitoes that feed on you.
Millions of creatures that fly or crawl,
In FLORIDA, Lord, you've put them all!
But this is home, and here we'll stay,
So thank you Lord, for insect spray.
READ ON . . . . . . there's more . . . .?
YOU KNOW YOU'RE IN FLORIDA IN JULY WHEN:
The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
The trees are whistling for the dogs.
The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
Hot water now comes out of both taps.
You can make sun tea instantly.
You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron!
The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.
You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.
You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.
Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up
??? lying on the pavement and cook to death?"
You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and
??? add butter, salt and pepper.
Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying
??? boiled eggs.
The cows are giving evaporated milk. Ah, what a place to call home.?
?
God Bless?The State of FLORIDA!

Here's one that needs to be followed closely, especially by the VD'rs in the Carolinas and north on the Alantic coast. It's gaining strength, and should get a name in the next day or two. Once again, it looks like Florida will dodge a bullet. Ralphie must have cast a hex on the hurricane gods, as this will be the fifth in a row that has missed Florida, although the first did clip the panhandle and got Glassgrl wet.

We had thought/dreamed for many years that we would make our final home in Florida. However with more age and maturity, and the fact that if we lived in Florida we would only want to live there if we could be on the water, we finally realized we do not want to have to go through a re-build should we be hit by a hurricane. Anywhere away from the water in Florida, there is a mosquito problem, and I am highly allergic to mosquitoes and have to stay inside during the summer months, even here in South Alabama.
I was born and reared in Houston, and went through two hurricanes there. We still own a ranch 30 miles from Galveston, and survived a direct hit hurricane there. We have been through 2 more hurricanes, and we just do not want to go through a major re-build. My husband was adamant about moving to Florida till recently, and he too decided that always having to watch the weather, the threat of hurricanes/tornadoes just is not worth being on the water.
In addition, over the past few years we have totally changed our way of eating, and much of the seafood we would have eaten a few years back, we no longer eat, so fresh seafood is no longer a draw to Florida.
Therefore, we have reversed ourselves and are now looking at property/house, whatever in North Georgia. I lived in Atlanta for 25 years and never met a mosquito!
We do not want to live in Atlanta or any large city, but far enough north in Georgia to get beyond the mosquito problem. Our preferences would be somewhere in the Blue Ridge Mountain area of North Georgia. We cannot live in a development, since we have 7 dogs, and we are rather reclusive and treasure our seclusion, so we would not want to live in some "planned" community, even if it were possible.
We actually started in this type of business 14 years ago, in the Flea Market days; then moved up to specialty shows, and then went on line in 1995. I have been hard at this business long enough.
There are a zillion of small and large festivals in North Georgia, if we become bored, or so inclined to participate in such.
We have put our brick and mortar antique shop on the market, liquidating product down to the items, which are easy to handle and ship, and take some time to enjoy life before I get too old to do such. We will continue to sell on the internet, but at a much slower pace, one, which the two of us can handle easily and still, have time to enjoy life.
The kind of business we run (e-commerce), we can live anywhere, but we prefer the South, we do not like Alabama, Mississippi is definitely too retarded for us, so North Georgia is the logical choice. North Georgia has beautiful change of seasons, which we have not seen in years; we have family and friends in Atlanta, there are fine medical facilities in Atlanta, so we both agree somewhere north of the mosquito line in Georgia is the ideal place for us and the "kids." We can see my family more, drive down to Atlanta for special events, and continue with our internet business (at a slower pace). As long as UPS can get to our house, we are in business!
Florida, forget it, to hot, too many weather risks, too many people.
