Well, just had a winner from Malaysia when clearly my TOS says no Malaysia. However, his profile location is the United States. I'm totally confused here. The invoice give his postal address as Malaysia. So, which is it? United States or Malaysia? My preferences are set to block countries I don't ship to. Since the auction clearly stated U.S. only, what gives?

Hmmm...Could be that he is US Citizen, thus he registered his US based address, and could be working in Malaysia perheps?? In any event, if he pays via PayPal the address will likely be unconfirmed if he supplies a different address than what he has on file. I would tell him your policy clearly states you do not ship to Malaysia, however, you would be more than happy to ship to the US address he has on file with eBay. Good Luck with that one!

One of two things, Cheryl. He may have a legitimate shipping address here in the U.S., or it may be a ruse where he gave Ebay false info when he signed up so he could bid on auctions that are restricted to U,S. buyers. Email him and ask for a U.S. shipping address. If he comes back with a Malaysian address, inform him that you only ship internationally via FedEx Next Day Delivery. Calculate the total charges and tell him you will only accept Bidpay, and payment must be received in 24 hrs. If he won't accept this, file for your FVF and you should be eligible for an instant refund. Be aware, Malaysia is a "red flag" country. Accept nothing but Bidpay. Don't fall for a Paypal payment. Even an international Postal money order could be forged or counterfeit.

Thanks, sparkz. I already emailed him and said no PayPal and to a US address only - signature required. So far, I've not heard anything back. This really pizzes me off.
He has good feedback, but only 72 of them since 2002. http://tinyurl.com/a4y4f He seems okay, but I'm not willing to take the chance. I just get suspicious when things don't match up.

Is there any way to cancel this now? He's already violated my TOS. I'm going to contact eBay because this is suspicious even to me and I generally trust people.

I'm not quite sure why you are so suspicious Cheryl - this person has has recieved over 50 positives since May from sellers and not by buying $5 items, I'm seeing positive feedback left on $150 & $200 items. This looks like a perfectly legit buyer.
Sanmar - when was the last time you got a Bidpay payment in 24 hours?

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

How are planning to ship this signature onlu oversees shipment Cheryl and why do you care if they sign for it or not if you are not accepting PayPal?

I will not ship overseas for this item and it is stated in the auction, fenix. The auction was USA only and clearly stated that fact. Also, Malaysia is clearly stated as a country I will not ship to. Hopefully, he will have a legit US address. If he's in the US, I'll take PayPal, but his address must be confirmed.

What about contacting one or two of the sellers who are in his feedback and asking them about his shipping address, or if they have any more info on him.

I got this email from him today.
Hello,
I'm bidding this item for my sister in Malaysia.
I'm in Seattle, WA
I will contact you back in 24 hours.
I have to let her know that you can not ship the item directly to her.
Thanks,
Anton
I'll wait to hear from him. I'll send the item to Seattle and he can ship it on to his sister in Malaysia. Now, I just want to know who's paying for this. Him or his sister in Malaysia.

I just sent him a very nice email and stated that if he wants to send me a money order for the amount, I will ship it to his sister in Malaysia or if he wants to use PayPal it will have to be sent to a confirmed U.S. address. Most of the items he bid on state will ship worldwide. However, there was one recently that stated U.S. only. I'm going to contact her to see how everything has gone.
I made sure to stress in my email that I'm sure he and his sister are honest people and that I'm sorry there are a few in Malaysia that ruin it for everyone else.
I just hate this bidding on something for someone else crap.
stop
The point is my auction states U.S. only and Malaysia is in my TOS as a country I don't ship to. Why should I not stick to my TOS? Do you constantly bend yours? We have a TOS for a reason. If you're going to constantly bend it or ignore it, why have it?

Cheryl,
he probably did not read your TOS when he placed the bid.
It is up to you, whether you want to stick to your TOS or go thru the problem of filing for Ebay fee.
I dont have much TOS when I sell on Ebay or anywhere, worldwide shipping and any payment method is fine,I dont have to worry about making any exceptions to my TOS.

Cheryl: Maybe to reassure you--I've sold perhaps 20 items in the last few years to people who've bought them for someone else. Most often, it's a Canadian who wants the item shipped to a friend or relative in the U.S. But at least 5 times it's been someone in Europe who wants it shipped to a friend in the U.S.--all with no problems.
That said, I've never dealt with a Malaysian and I understand that's a little scarier. You've asked for a money order so I'm guessing you'll make sure it's good before shipping. Good luck!
