What can we do in this situation? The tracking number says it was delivered on July 16th. On one hand, I know it's not impossible for FedEx to mis-deliver packages. On the other hand, who would actually keep a mis-delivered batch of beaten-up tobacco tins? Any advice? Should we just go ahead and file a claim and look like jerks in doing so?
Hello, im sorry to say Fed EX Ground has shipped this package to an unknown address and i have exhausted all possibilities with fed ex in trying to find it. Could you please submit a claim to fed ex and credit my pay pal account for the tobaccianna lot. Thank you, XXXXXX

If you are the shipper I would tell them that you are not going to refund a package that the shipper states was delivered (does Fed Ex include defacto insurance like UPS does?).
If you are the buyer, I would say that you should expect to recieve the response above.

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

Yup, I'm the seller. My commentary is the first paragraph--the buyer's response is the second paragraph. Our FedEx representative is visiting today and we'll bring this situation to him.

If you have an online FedEx account and you shipped it that way - you can see the signature online. I can't remember what you clicked on but it seemed like it was somewhere in the package details.

I don't think fedex requires signatures any more unless you request it or state a value over a certain amount. I don't see it being the seller's problem, but of course, I am a seller, so I am a bit biased.
If it was actually delivered to her, but perhaps stolen off her doorstep because she was not home - that is her problem and she should address locally with the police.

The shipper talked with the buyer, and the shipper feels that he's telling the truth.
She & the FedEx rep worked it out, not sure exactly what happened, and I won't know until tomorrow when the shipper comes back in. They probably filed a claim.
Carolinetyler's correct about FedEx's signature policy. I think it's UPS that requires signatures.

Just for your info, when I ship FedEx ground (commercial), I automatically always seem to get a signature (visible on line). With Home Delivery, they drop it off at "the front door, side porch, etc." unless you request signature service which I do for expensive items, especially paid with PayPal.
