What's the difference between "pop" or "popper" beads and any other kind of plastic beads. Is there a simple way to tell the difference?

Pop (or Pop-In) beads are made of polyethene and other soft plastics. A knob at one end fits into a corresponding hole on a neighboring bead to link together.

Those beads were hot stuff in the 1950s when I was in high school. Ugly things, though. Cheap looking, too. But fun to play with.

Pop beads ARE fun ... I remember they sold quite well on ebay a few years ago ... so I just checked how well they do nowadays ... here is search of Ended Listings in order of highest price to lowest price ... (if you have a lot of beads, they do well as a lot)

Tonimar's explanation was what I thought they were - but I couldn't tell from some of the picture on ebay if that's what people were actually selling when they described the necklaces as pop beads.
I bought some jewelry at auction which included a lot of beaded necklaces. I'll have to take a closer look at them to see what I really have.
