So I have relented and started taking Paypal again(in light of my dead summer sales). So I read on this wonderful EO board about mailing to confirmed Canadian addresses. But I thought that I read it would only worked if you used the Express mail. At the moment, I am primarily selling books, so of course after reading about the horror stories that some of you have experienced with International Paypal, I am apprehensive about accepting Paypal for even Canadian transactions.

I normally offer Global if the book fits or Airmail/Economy options.

Can anyone offer me a great solution to cover my A--, so I won't have a charge back!

TIA
Rosanne

It will be news to me if it works at all. I lost $200.00 on a pageant gown like that.
Mailed it to their confirmed address and everything. Eight days later, she files a paypal complaint "Item not received" I asked her why and she stated that it hadn't gotten there yet and she only had 30 days to file so she was doing it asap. Long story short, paypal yanked the money, gave it back to her, I never got the dress back.
I refuse to do it again.

Designer, when did that happen? PayPal's Canadian Seller Protection changed some time in July IIRC.

It was before then, I did not know it had changed that is great. Now, if they would just do the same with the UK. I lost $565.00 that way. Dress got there and byuyer was PIZZED that she had to pay duties. Said it was my fault, I should have made it known to her what the charges were. Like I am supposed to know!! Then she reported it as not as described. They gave her the money back she then picked up the dress.

Design - it has been changed for the UK as well.

Seller protwection on international shipments to CONFIRMED addresses is now available. The only catch is that just as within the US, you must have online tracking which means using an express service.

No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

same rule applies - you need online trackable delivery confirmation and the only way to get that is either USPS EXPRESS MAIL or any of the private carriers such as FED EXP,UPS or DHL.
If your UK bidder filed item not as described, she has to return the item back to you with online trackable delivery confirmation,I beleive she has 7 days to do so,else she wont get her money back.

OOOOOHHH I am so excited!! The UK buyer must have reported as not received, I didn't get it back. I am currently into it with another UK buyer who was delusional about duties. Says I should have warned her. She had emailed me every day wanting to know where her dress was. I sent it global EMS and she could track it herself, but they thing I follow the packages myself I guess... The dress is sitting in customs she says she is going to just "let it go back" and I can refund her when I get it back. This one was a direct credit card sale. Then on top of that, I noticed she bis on another of the same item, using MY STOLEN PHOTOS!! SHEESH!!

Does anyone have the link to the new policy?? not that I don't believe it, just noce to actually see it in writing, then I can do the happy dance!!

Make up your mind what it is -item not as described or item not yet received.
You can go to your own paypal account and look under disputes/complaints and see what is her gripe.
My guess is that paypal may have restricted that 500 plus dollars in your account but has not turned it over to her yet,if she files item not as described and paypal rules in her favor, then her next step is to return the dress to you with online trackable DC which is not cheap.
Once she does that, she will enter that dc number,Paypal will then return the money to her when the dc said it has been delivered .
I am sure she has 7 days to do so.
If 7 days have gone by and she has entered no dc number, then money is released back to you.

There was a thread here a long time ago about customs and as I had some problems I added this to my boiler plate.

" Your country taxes and duty are the responsibility of the buyer and refusal of a package due to added taxes and/or duty will result in forfeiture"

Custom problem do happen occasionally if you sell WW as I do.

Ralphie says the same-same-but-defferent:

"Many countries impose various taxes, levies, fees, duties, graft, juju, grease, etc., on imports! You, the BUYER, are responsible for knowledge of & PAYMENT FOR any such fees or penalties imposed on your purchase by your country! I have NO knowledge of, NOR any responsibility for any such fees that may or may not be imposed on your purchase by your country! All customs forms are completed accurately & honestly with declaration of the WINNING BID PRICE under the designation MERCHANDISE"
