I recently bought a box of really old padlocks. I listed them on Monday night & the response has been unbelieveable. There have been 30 to 50 hits & already 5 have been bid on. I didn't realize there was so much interest in old padlocks. These are from th 19th & early 20th Centuries. Has anyone had an experience like this?

An experience with hits and bids? Nah, not since May or maybe June

How cool is that? Great going, keep it up. I had some great luck a couple of months ago with crochet pattern magazines, who knew?

Indeed ... we had a lot of 'ebay luck' with our bucket or two of padlocks ... big collector item ...

Are they being sold with, or without, the keys?

"Are they being sold with, or without, the keys?"

I've had luck like that when selling a collection of purses, perfumes, porcelain, etc. Once they see more than 2 or 3 listed, all the items seem to take off.
Sounds like you not only have the key to success, but have it lock, stock & barrel!

I would think that old padlocks with keys would sell for much, much more than ones without keys.
I'd guess that some people with huge key collections might buy locks without keys for the chance that they will have a key thay will fit.

I have sold many padlocks on eBay and they sell with or without keys. Having the key is good but on a rare padlock it does not make a huge diference.

Only 2 have keys, the older & larger one has tripled the original opening price.

I'd expect larger locks to sell for more, but that assumption is based on absolutely nothing.
