I would say Cairn terriers because Westies are known as West Highland White Terriers and these two are more gray than white. Cairns come in different colors and these look like a Cairn terrier should.

I won't even hazard a guess after this piece of "artwork". This is for the annual Yorkie Ball held in Nashville. Clue - it's supposed to be a Yorkie picture on the T shirt they are selling. I'm not buying one.

Your best bet is Google images or at least mention both breeds - West Highland and Cairn Terrier.

They're West Highland White Terriers, circa 1950s or early 1960s. They're not modern dogs freshly fluffed for the show ring, hence the scruffy, off-white appearance. The dog on the right is a puppy.

Thank you LKaren. I may not be a dog judge, butI know a lot about dogs of all breeds. I have studied dogs, raised them for over 50 years. Right now, I have my 2nd Keeshond & I'll bet 75% of you can't describe one without a reference book of some kind.

Pronounced "Casehund" - curled tail, prick ears, grayish black, Looks like a sled dog with somewhat finer, longer hair. Obviously comes from Nothern Europen country. Why would you choose that breed when Siberian Huskies are so much more attractive?

First of all, colors can vary depending on your computer, and your browser. Internet Explorer uses many more color combinations than does Netscape. Therefore, the dogs could be Clorox white, and show up beige or grayish, depending on the computer setting, and the browser being used.
With that said, I checked all the possible breeds listed by the AKC, and I would agree that they are most likely "Cairn Terriers."
Check this link:
http://www.akc.org/breeds/index.cfm
In the left border click on BREEDS BY NAME, and check out all the breeds you think these pup might be.
I can assure you they are NOT Miniature Schnauzers, or Silky Terriers.
Check out the Cairn Terrier, I think that is your match. Compare that to the other breeds mentioned by members here and I am sure, unless these are some type of crossbreed, you will find your answer.

I could not get the "edit" to work AND wanted to add this:
The above dogs clearly appear to be of different ages, possibly a Mother or Father and a teenage pup.
You cannot imagine in some breeds how dramatically they change from puppy hood to the adult dog you easily recognize.
We are German Shepherd people, and look at this picture of a 10 week old highly bred German Shepherd - then at the same dog, fully grown Shepherd - most folks would never recognize the Shepherd puppy till their ears come up.
This is a picture of "General Fuzzy," the same dog at 4 years old!!!
See what a dramatic change is made from puppy hood to the adult dog?
Regrettably, on March 25th, 2005, our beloved "General Fuzzy," who was also a service dog, was murdered while inside a 5 foot fence around our yard, by a 12 gauge shot gun by 4 teenagers, for absolutely no reason, except they wanted to.
This is a picture of our new baby German Shepherd, age 12 weeks:
Would you recognize this pup as a Shepherd at this age?
THE POINT is, the two dogs in the picture at the top can be the same breed but at considerably different ages.

ah, at last, pictures of a real dog! sorry to hear about General Fuzzy's murder, jwpc. my next dog will probably be a Belgian Malinois - in the shepherd "family," so to speak, but used a lot more for search and rescue operations.

It is possible that the dog on the right is still very immature and does not have his/her full coat yet but they still look like the same breed. Try comparing an Afghan pup to a full grown Afghan hound if you want to see some drastic changes that occur.
