Years ago, people driven to extremes could only do their thing locally ... now they can take it "worldwide"! ... thanks to eBay

I'm not going to put this woman down, she's trying get things back on track and from the fact that those pics are taken at what looks like a low rate hotel, I'm not going to fault her. She's using what resources she has at hand.

I hope it does well for her. I know that there are organizations that purchase real hair to make into wigs or extensions for children and adults with Alopecea (sp?). Maybe they will step in and bid. I feel bad that she has had to resort to something like this, especially putting it in for "fetish" when there are real people out there that need real hair. But I do understand why she threw that word in there. Children with alopecea are teased and taunted due to their lack of hair. It's very sad.

I hope if she really needs the money to pay medical bills that it will work out for her.
I think the whole auction would have been better received if she had not mentioned getting or wanting a boob-job twice??? What's up with that.
I'm not sure it's a cheap motel either - it could be an apartment complex or something.
She's also making a mistake by not having anything else up for auction.

Her 'Me' page mentions she is an immigrant from Germany. I wish her luck with her auction, too... as they say, "there but for the grace of God, go I."

I understand this person's dilemma and I sympathize with her, but I'd file bankruptcy before I'd shave my hair off for someone with a sick fetish. I'd take more than one job even if it meant working 16 hours a day. Same goes for those who tattoo their body parts for money. The economy is in the dumps and poverty is being played out all over the country so she is not alone in that regard.
She could start her own web site and offer her German recipes for sale or the cookies she bakes. She could talk to restaurants and bakeries. If she loves to cook and is good at it, she could become a cook at a local restaurant and then maybe move up. After some experience, she could open her own restaurant or bakery.
There are other options even though they will require exhaustive work. It's too bad we've come to this. No one should have to work more than one job and no one should be forced to survive on a minimum wage that keeps no one out of poverty.
Couple all of that with the fact that eBay sucked over the summer and you have this auction as the end result.

Sorry - I just can't work up any sympathy - it is prostitution, pure & simple. Like Cheryl mentioned - there are other options.
I am disgusted. I understand having to do things to make money - don't we all - but there is a limit to what your morals allow you to do for money. There is not much of a moral limitation here.

I guess the best thing that can be said about this is that there don't seem to be too many people with hair fetishes out there (based on the bidding). Probably more pity bids than anything else. She would have done better to auction off her used flip-flops,
Hopefully the media won't pick this story up because this is more pitiful than sensational or bizarre. If she didn't focus on the "fetish" and "Videotape" angle it could read like a modern version of the O Henry story (Gift of the Magi). As it is, it is just plain bad taste.

She made $760 for her hair.
I don't see how selling her hair is prostitution.
As for selling cookies Cheryl... take a look at the pics from her auctions again. I'm seeing a motel background and I think those come with ovens. (Lady - I say Motel because of the "for registered guests only" sign at the pool - apartments generally say "residents" not "guests" )
This was a good way to raise quick money to get creditors off her back and possibly get a new start. Gotta say she has more guts than I - there is no way I would cut my hair off. That's just a sacrifice I would not be willing to make.
I take my hat off to her. (But the hair stays! )

There is a good market for long hair. People use cut hair to create hair extensions. I wouldn't be surprised if the $760 was turned into a quick profit.

St - Human hair is surprisingly not that expensive. I a couple women that do weaves and extensions and one pack wholesales for under $50. Her hair may go for a bit more because of the length but I don't think this womans hair would generate more than maybe a pack and a half. The real money comes from the labor involved from person doing the weave. That can run anywhere from $200 to $1500 depending on the shop and the reputation of the weaver. (Ironically the most expensive methods are also the worst ones for your existing hair)

Yep, if you want to.
see http://www.itsmyhair.com
(actually quite a fascinating site if you read through each girl's story, especially Stacey.)
And now the shave lady is doing an ebay auction for ad space on her head after her shave is done.
