The only thing I know about this locket is that it's old. Does it look like it opens backwards? You open it on the left and the one I have of my own opens on the right. Could it be man's locket? There's a cobra on the front. It's marked 925 and either a G or a C inside a lozenge (diamond) and I can't find anything on that either. It's 1-1/4" wide. I'm not sure how to describe it. Possibly Victorian?? Any help would be appreciated.

The mark sounds like a Gorham Silver mark. They also marked other metals with a G as well.

That's what I thought at first. However, when looking through the Gorham marks, I couldn't find one that has a G in an elongated diamond. Then I started thinking that maybe it's not American. It opens from the left instead of the right. Maybe oriental? Just don't know. Thanks for your help.

Should not think Gorham would use a cobra since they are not native here. One might consider looking to countries where cobras are found.

Interesting piece. I'm not sure it matters whether it opens right to left or left to right. At least, if I wanted a locket, I personally wouldn't care.
