Just had one for $76.00. I wrote and said I needed an confirmed address and she wrote back that the mail room in her apartment building has a lot of thief.
She wants it sent to her work address. Can she just add that address and have it confirmed???
Thanks

I don't think there is a way to confirm a work address. The confirmation is done by matching a credit card or other billing address to the mailing address, so she wouldn't be able to unless she gets her bills at work.
I usually just go ahead and ship it to the work address - I don't see anyway around it in a case like this - unless you insist on sending it her home address with delivery confirmation or something that requires a signature.

I'd rather send to a work address, than a street address that has had a lot of thief.
Maybe she would care to add insurance, tracking or proof of delivery.

I always send to unconfirmed addresses if customer requests it.
First I check their paypal history.
If the have been around a while I think nothing of it.

I've often shipped to unconfirmed addresses with no problem at all. If it's a rather new Ebay buyer, I'll e-mail and confirm the address with them. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've never had a PayPal chargeback . . . yet. . . .

Road: and i hope you - or anybody - ever have it happen... somebody once posted, dont use Unconfirmed if you cant afford to gamble the loss.
-----------
the bottom line: you ship to a confirmed address, and the package disappears - OKAY! YOU ARE STILL COVERED - ANNNNNND, SO IS THE CUSTOMER.
HOWEVER, you ship to an unconfirmed address, and package disappears - guess who is covered? NOT YOU BABE!!

You may not be covered by Paypal, but you're covered by postal insurance, if purchased.

not so,if DC said it has been delivered and the buyer said she did not receive the package,USPS would deny your claim.

Is her work and her home in the same Zip? That makes things very easy since DC shows delivery only to a zip, not to a specific address.

I guess I'll go ahead and ship it and caulk it up to "cost of doing business" if anything happens.
sanmar - DSI is a good choose on insuring.
Thanks all

ladyjewels2000, I think you made the right decision. All the advice here is good as usual. I agree that it is always a gamble, and I particularly agree with "dad" that if the paypal history is good, go for it.
It's a long story but for the past five years, I have been moving to a new location every three to six months. Of course my confirmed address is my billing address which is with a relative who forwards our mail. I am so thankful for all those folks who I have purchased items from on Ebay who have had no qualms sending my stuff to me on the road, that is not a confirmed address. Never had anyone turn me down.

You can confirm your Work address. The way PayPal has it's confirmation system set up, you can give them any address you want and as long as you give the confirmation numbers sent on your credit card statement, you are confirmed.
You have to remember that your credit card statement is sent to your home or P.O. box or where ever. PayPal simply charges your card with a confirmation code. They do not send a confirmation letter to your confirmed address to prove who you are. So in reality, PayPal truely doesn't know if the address you give them is correct or not. They basically bluff it out of most people.
Now in your case, the unconfirmed will not be able to confirm within the time limits of most payment requirments including the FVF process of ebay.

there is verified and there is confirmed.
you verify your id by reporting back to paypal the 2 deposits it made to your bank account, you confirmed your address by giving them the addr where your credit card statement is mailed each month.
