This may sound like a really stupid situation, but I've sent money to someone through PayPal and it wasn't through ebay. It's been a little over a week and I have not received my package nor have I heard anything more from the seller. All of my emails go unanswered to both email addresses I have and I'm starting to worry that I'm getting ripped off.

SO-

Is there anything that I can do next? Am I just in a bad situation where I'm out of luck? I was looking into opening a dispute through PayPal but it seems to be only for ebay transactions. Is that correct?

I know that many sellers here have had experiences with disputes and whatnot so I'm hoping that someone could give me some advice.

Thanks so much! Yves

I don't know if paypal's "dispute" is only for ebay transactions either ... I will be interested to find the answer on this, since I just did a pretty big transaction thru paypal to an off-ebay site ... the thing in my mind when deciding to do so, was that I used a credit card number to pay, so I think if the goods are not delivered, I would just do a chargeback through that credit card provider that I just used.

Thanks for that- I'll keep you up-to-date on my process. Meanwhile, I had made it a point to add a new credit card because I thought of protecting myself with a chargeback but somehow it still issued the payment as a bank transfer... I'm not sure if there's any other recourse I can take through my bank.

Me too, but you have to 1) have a -0- in your paypal balance, (because if you have any $ in there, it will take from that first, then your next picked thing) ... and 2) make sure you CLICK on THE credit card number option that you want to use .... paypal kept wanting to default point to my 'other' "Main" account to do it up ... i had to double-take and go back and click that a couple times to make it 'take' .......

I have used Paypal to pay for non Ebay transactions. One of these was for ringtones for my phone and lo and behold, even though it said my phone was compatible, it was not. I filed a dispute and received a full refund within 48 hours. The business did not contest it though.

At the bottom of the "Transaction Detail" page, there is link to the "Resolution Center". Just click on that and follow the directions.
