There is a feature in the seller's form that lets you pledge a percentage of the selling price to the registered charities - the Red Cross is one of them, and you can donate 100%.
This is on the 3rd page/details page of the seller's form. I believe Ebay automatically takes the % and gives it to the charity.

Because there 1000 upon 1000's of charity scams running in auctions and on the web eBay may not allow individual sellers to use such a statement. There is no way a customer or eBay can track if the seller actually gave the money to the RC or put it in there pocket.
Customers could also view such a statement in ads in a negative light as a seller hoping to boost sales through the misery of others. If you want to set aside a portion of your sales to go to the Red Cross, just do it. The victims of the hurricane will thank you in their prayers.

That is why they set up the charity proceeds feature, so a bidder will know it is going to the non-profit specified. I believe Ebay has a search feature for the non-profit/charity auctions.

This idea is OK IF ebay has in place a feature that automatically charges the seller for that amount and then EBAY sends the money to the charity. Would they do this? I don't know but charity auctions are just plain stupid anyway.

Thanks, Fenix, for the link!
Searched and found some interesting items to buy (bid on several), and am now going through inventory to see what there might be to put up for auction that would bring a fair dollar for the Katrina Relief.
Weout here in the West, are so far away from the tragedy of the Southern States, it is hard to even imagine what these folks are going through.
Mingo... We've already "sent the check". This is just another way to help as best we can. Seems to me it's a "Win-Win" for all!
