I'm wondering ... If I listed an item and instead of putting the plural in the listing, I added a * at the end of the word, would it show up in a wildcard search? In other words, if my title to my listing read like this:
Filet crochet pattern*
Would my item show up in searches for both "pattern" and "patterns"?
Before anyone tells me "ebay searches include plural", it doesn't. I've been doing searches on keywords that I frequently use because I noticed that hits are down. So far I noticed that the word "pattern" does not get pluralized, nor does "afghan", "dress", "doily" and many other words.

I was surprised that pattern and patterns didn't show up when doing a search using pattern. I just tried it, and you are absolutely right. Many words do show up in the plural - I just did plate and listings with plates showed up as well.
I don't believe the * would help in the listing title. Since you cant use HTML in titles, I would think the title is a text only type field.
You could always do a test auction "Please do not bid test - pattern*" to try it. I'd be surprised if it works, but it would be good to know!
Also I did discover the other day that if you use a subtitle and someone is using the search title feature, it does not look in the subtitle field - which stinks!
