One station here in Santa Maria is at $3.39 for regular, but most are at 3.09/gal. One station was 3.02 yesterday & right across the street it was 3.12 go figure.

Come on... Did you expect reasonable gas prices with a gas company man in the white house?

Hello,
Not only is gas the price it is but 3-4 hour lines to get it! (Pensacola FL)
As to a gas man in the whitehouse our choices (if you can call it that) were Bush, Kerry or Gore! Good Lord is THAT the best America had to offer?

As far as I know, the law of supply and demand hasn't been repealed. And it has been in effect for 5000 years.

If you want to protest, how about driving less, which will reduce demand, and thus reduce prices.

Our gas in Alaska is still at $2.64. We have two refineries up here. One in Kenai and one up in North Pole. Even with our own refineries we are up about 40 cents since last spring.

Hmmm, maybe I should move to Alaska! I've always wanted to go there (for a visit anyways).

But until then, I've been thinking about getting a car called the Smart ForTwo. It's built by Mercedes-Benz, in France. Looks very European, it's a 3 cylinder turbo-diesel that gets over 80 MPG highway. Looks like a golf cart, but it handles well and has an excellent crash-worthiness rating.

It's not yet available in the US, but it is in Canada, so I can buy one. Costs a few grand more than a comparably equipped Toyota Echo which gets "only" 54 MPG highway. (this is the Echo hatchback, also not available in the US, but the similar sedan version is).
