Awhile back I'd posted about how a buyer I'd negged and NPB'ed had the gaul to even lie that "yes, you did receive my payment" (BS). Seems he's now NARU for pulling this scam once too many times, but not before replying to my calling of his BS with this:
"SELLER DID RECEIVE MY MONEY.. CONFIRMATION NUMBER PROVES IT....."
I'm just certain (sarcasm) that he has a SIGNED payment document (check/MO) as the ironclad proof that I'm in fact, lying.
Need some advice what to put as a reply to his bogus statement (in 80 characters or less).

With 15 characters to spare: "He is dishonest. He’s kicked off eBay; I’m still on. Do the math."

Has he given an actual confirmation number? (tracking number?)

I'm sure he doesn't have a confirmation number, because he didn't send payment.
IMO your reply should be along the lines of what Cash said - try not to be rude or defensive in your reply - however tempting it is. I know that always bugs me when I check someone's feedback, I also look to see how they may have handled any situation with negs.
If it was me, I would just put the facts:
Buyer did not send pymt; his neg is retalitory & he has been suspended.

Caroline, you are right (at least more right than I am). My 20 years of working in NYC come out sometimes, but it isn't professional, as your reply is.
I have been too abrasive in some of my feedback replies (and my EX partner was even worse). I have resolved to wait 2 days to respond in the future.

I would say: "bidder never paid, and makes false claim of having a confirmation number"

Remember, you can always use the eBay feedback link from one of their other sites and leave up to 125 character feedback instead of the 80 allows on the US site.
You do have to know how to find the item you want to leave feedback for and you have to be logged in already (I think) -- but it's worked for me in the past:
http://feedback.tw.ebay.com/ws1/eBayISAPI.dll?GetAndShowTransactions&userid=&otheruserid=default&item=0&nflw=1&page=1
Hope this helps.

Just be calm and factual, and present a response that conveys your feelings about his character so that other sellers will be informed of the risks of dealing whith this person. An example response would be:
Friggin liar!! I'm gonna chase him down and kick his ass!!!

Of course, if you really want to play dirty pool, leave this response:
Call xxx-xxx-xxxx collect after 2:00 AM CDT for details.
Be sure you put his correct telephone number where the x's are. After a month or two, have a friend report you to Ebay for leaving feedback that contains personal information. Since they will not edit feedback, they will remove the comment plus the original complaint. You will get a warning from Ebay about the feedback policy and the prohibition of putting personal information in comments, but the bottom line is the neg will disappear from your record. Also, you'll have the satisfaction of wondering how he dealt with those collect calls in the middle of the night.

I went with a combination of the responses (and used the ebay.tw trick for extra mileage).

eBay will remove feedback if it contains personal information, such as a phone #.

I check a seller's replies, not necessarily their feedback. How they reply is the truest test of what kind of person they are. Smartass or nasty replies indicate a very non-professional seller and i avoid them.
Stick to the facts!
