Just wondering if eBay has a new policy not to raise feedback if a transaction is below a certain amount?
Yesterday an auction ended where I was the one and only bidder, and my winning bid was a whopping ten cents. My thought was that eBay doesn't allow the feedback ratings to go up for these transactions where the item is practically free. Perhaps this is to prevent padding feedback, or building it up quickly with auctions for goods that can be delivered electronically and sold for next to nothing.
Just checked and neither my feedback rating, nor the seller's rating went up. It's been almost 24 hours since we posted positive feedback to each other. I know it's only "one" feedback, but inquiring minds would like to know!

I've never heard anything about the amount of a transaction being an issue with leaving feedback. I do know that it took over 24 hours for 3 positives to register on my feedback score. I think it's just a matter of the feedback being uploaded into the system to increase the count.

Ah, maybe it's just a delay in the updates then. Although I wouldn't blame eBay for putting a restriction on transactions for just a few cents. There may be a few ligitimate ones, but I've seen a lot of people run an ebook auction for one cent, or 99 cents, no shipping (becuase it's delivered by email). All this in effort to pad or quickly build up feedback.
Hardly seems fair when someone else who sells a $20 book, $500 vase or $20,000 car also just gets their feedback raised by one.

No, never done business with this person before. I thought of that, but no, he's only got four feedbacks under his belt, so it was easy to check! Plus I don't recognize his name from before.

I think it's likely just a delay in the system. Lately it's often been taking a day (and sometimes two) for my feedback number to increase after feedback has been left.

Thank you for writing to eBay. I am sorry to hear that you have not
received an update to your feedback score.
I can certainly understand your concern in this situation. After
reviewing your feedback profile I can assure you that your feedback
score has now been updated to 682.
Please note that there are times when a score may take up to 24 hours to
update. For eBay accounts, which have a feedback score above 500, the
site will only update the feedback profile once every 24 hours. As a
result, there can be a delay between the time feedback comments are left
and when the score updates to account for those comments.
In addition, there is a possibility that if multiple users have left
feedback for you at the same time, there will be a delay in showing the
correct feedback score. This means that your feedback score would appear
incorrect. Please know that we have record of you receiving the feedback
and your score will always reflect the correct feedback after some time.
Thanks again for writing, and thank you for being part of the eBay
community.

Thanks, that's interesting. Now, I could be wrong, but I remember back in the good old days (like about five or so years ago, and even more recently than that), feedback used to be updated instantly. Or am I just dreaming...?

eBay's feedback database has become so huge, it takes time for the ratings to update. I think 24 hours is a conservative figure...
I believe it wasn't too long ago that the feedback rate would increase right away.

Hello,
I also noted yesterday that I have two positive feedbacks that had not made it to my overall number. This morning they were there. So just slow I guess.

Yes, but I was just curious if this was something new. It could really add up after a while. As long as the feedback eventually gets there, that's good.

FYI: the feedback rating just went up, almost 48 hours later... guess eBay's getting bigger and it takes longer for these things to get updated. Been away for a while.

I have no idea what FB is reflected in my number but what they said about updating once every 24 hours is not true - mine inches up sometimes - it changed 5 or 6 times since you started this thread 24 hours ago.

Maybe it's relative to when the feedback was posted. If you had 50 feedback comments posted in the last few days, and it's, say, 12-24 hours on average (and in rare cases like mine, 48 hours) before feedback gets posts, your FB rating inches up as the time elapses from the time each individual comment was left.
