I notice now when you do a search you see the shipping listed next to the starting price on all E-Bay auctions. I like that a lot better, much easier on the buyer now that they don't have to click every auction to check shipping.

OMG what an incredibly horrible idea. What about auctions that require calculated shipping. Again, Ebay screws sellers.

You can only do calculated shipping with USPS and UPS. Sellers who use FedEx and Diehl can't use it. Click on "announcements" at the top of this page and get the full story.

You guys don't do many searches do you? This has been there for awhile now.

It HAS been there (at least in certain views) for several weeks.

But yeah, it stinks. All it does is hurt the sellers who actually disclose the shipping ahead of time.

If you charge a fair shipping charge, why would it hurt you? The only ones I see it hurting are those who gouge on shipping.

Gotta disagree with you there, Cheryl. A seller in my category has lowered her shipping prices to just $.10 above actual shipping. In order to compete, I (and many of my selling friends) have had to lower our shipping prices accordingly. Ten cents don't amount to a hill of beans when it comes to packing supplies, gas, etc. I've never gouged on shipping. I usually would only charge 50 cents above actual charges to cover my supplies, etc.

I think the only people hurt by this are people who charge outrageous shipping. If you charge 9.99 with a .01 opening bid you have now been exposed.

On that I see your point. I still think it will weed out those that charge excess shipping fees. Yes, it will hurt some, but I think it will benefit more.

Not to be stupid (okay, what I mean is: to be stupid but please don't call me that), how do I get my shipping into eBay? It looks like Vendio will only put ONE fixed rate into all of my auctions (that won't work, as I sell many different things); I can't use the calculator yet (because it doesn't work with listings made via SMP); and I don't see how I can get it to say "See Description" rather than "Not specified".

I wasn't even talking about people legitimately comparing shipping. My meaning was that people who actually list shipping (regardless of price) are now at a disadvantage to those who don't put in shipping at all.

You have to read their ads to find out what shipping is, which gives them a big advantage. Before, you had to read ALL the ads. Now you only have to read the ads of the people who don't put in shipping costs.

I just went in & checked some of my auctions. There is no showing of shipping charges by the bid price. It is listed in the TOS, but nowhere else. Have never seen this on any of my auctions.

Check with the Vendio PTB and see if they have the new feature in their programming.

Replay - Personally - I am actually MORE Likely to look at an auction where I can see the shipping up front. I'm so sick of the no shipping price people and the shocking frequency of them and of wasting my time emailing to ask shipping then trying to match up the 15% response rate with the items I have put on my watch list that I rarely even look at listings that don't have the shipping listed anymore unless it's something REALLY unique.

I find it distracting in the gallery view. Too much stuff to look at ... too many numbers all coming at ya...

Hello,
I had a thread on this and wondered why no one was responding

I note that those who used the shipping amount so it would show in a search had in their add Big Bold Letters "Shipping is for USA ONLY" or some such. Looks like they got burnt by Non USA buyers.

It is a mess, no matter how you look at it.

I guess if you don't select the method of shipping through Ebay it doesn't show up. I use VD. Of course you can go back in there and manually set the shipping but what a PITA! And - I have a default "shipping" with no method chosen in VD so I can choose to ship it Media Mail/Priority Mail/FedEx or whatever when I see where the winning bidder lives. I use FLAT rate shipping in the US.

I gotta say ... fenix said up above, "you all not doing searches very much? this has been around a long time" ...(or something to that effect)

Well, I just noticed it, on current listing searches, just recently (it used to be only on the closed listings view) ... like within the past week or two, off and on the s/h was showing on the current listing search views ... I was liking the s/h being right on the page where I pulled up the search so it would save me time of clicking ON each auction then needing to click back out (doggedly slow to back out of a listing, back to the main Search listings) ...

But today this subject gets brought up, and I have to say, I have done numerous ebay searches today and the s/h is NOT showing up like it was ... NO s/h shown on my 'bring up a search' pages ........

... my point being maybe this is still in a transitional phase that ebay is bringing out? ....

It would be nice if you could sort by shipping cost, or exclude sellers that keep shipping a secret.

This make me wish I lived in the middle of the USA so I could just list shipping that would average out but living in Florida and selling all types of items makes this a real disadvantage.
I would prefer to see the seller's FB % there.
