I have a few eBay accounts. There's one I have with 100+ feedback but I haven't used it in ages. I want the credibility from this established account (opened in 2000) and a decent feedback rating for a new line of products I want to sell on eBay.

I could have sworn I logged out of another eBay account I was using. But, as luck would have it, the user ID got changed for the wrong eBay account, which has a lot of current auctions running and has the perfect username that I did NOT want to change.

Does anyone know a phone number for eBay that I can call to see if they can strighten this out can't find one on the website anywhere). I'd like them to reverse the name change, since it was for the wrong account, and make the name change for the account it was intended for.

I have an older list of eBay numbers...perhaps one of them can direct you to the right place;
1-800-322-9266, 1-888-749-3229, 1-408-558-7400 (last one 0730 to 1730 only)

You could always combine both accounts into the one username.

I can't combine both user accounts, as I need to have the name that got dropped plus the name it is now. The other account, where the name did not get changed, is the one that needs to gotten rid of.

Also, I want to keep these two accounts separate, so combining them isn't an option. I'll try those phone numbers and see what happens.

Figures, they just closed 15 minutes ago... now I'll have to wait until tomorrow, unless the email I sent to support gets answered first.

You could perhaps try Live Help if it's an emergency? Not sure exactly what you did -- can you change it back?

I've never used live help, but I think now would be a good time to try it - just have to run out for a couple of hours first.

It's not an emergency in terms of life and death, but it will really mess up my marketing plans, I'd have to change all sorts of settings and user IDs, wait 30 days to change it back, then change the one I originally intended to change, then wait another 30 days for the "changed ID" icon to go away. I wanted it to go away asap, preferably before I started listing anything, now two of my user IDs will have that icon there for another 60 days (since I have to wait 30 days before I can even correct the mistake).

Hopefully eBay can reverse the change.

FYI: I tried live help, but they couldn't do anything, they said to email my question in (which is what I did earlier). I was hoping to get this straightened out sooner, looks like I'll have to wait. The person on live chat said there was no guarantee this could even be resolved, and it would take 48 to 72 hours to hear a reply.

Once an Ebay I.D. is abandoned, it can never be reclaimed through normal channels. Your only hope is to convince Ebay it was an error and get them to change it back manually. If they agree, which they probably won't, don't expct it to happen overnight. Personally, I would be making a contingency plan and resolve to never again mess with the I.D. of an established account in the future.

This is incorrect. When you change your ID, your old ID will still work for 30 days, then drop from your account. At that time, the old ID can be reclaimed by the first one to pick it up.

Would it be possible for you to take your ID from the account that you did not want to change and use it on your account that you did want to change? Or is your feedback as such that you couldn't live with the change?

Barparts, not quite sure what you had in mind, but my plan is that if eBay won't help me out in this, then I will have no choice but to use the account with the changed ID for the next 30 days, then I can change it back to what it originally was. Then wait another 30 days and change the name on the other account to what I want it to be.

Not really what I want to do, so I hope eBay can just reverse the name change for me. At this point I'd be happy to just go back to the way things prior to the namechange.
