Is an unnumbered art print (signed by the artist) considered an "original" or a reproduction? What about a numbered art print?

I don't know about the unsigned but I think the numbered are consider original as long as it is not signed "in the print" But even then you have to be careful as some that look signed aren't really. I had an Pena print that looked signed but really wasn't. It was a out of stock and a no longer reproduced print and still valued at $250 according to the Pena Gallery.
Prints are a field that really require an expert. Very hard to sell on ebay as well - too many have been burned???
