I sure could use some ID help on these two pieces. I haven't a clue. The ones with Japan stickers I know are imported but don't know if they're just generic or not. Don't know if mark was upside down or not.
I actually found 2 different pieces in the green pottery piece this weekend at two differnet locations. I'm assuming maybe a California Pottery company?
Thanks for any help!

I'm sorry - don't recognize the mark. I would call it a majolica lettuce bowl. To post your pic do the following - but remove the *

Thank you for helping me get these pics up and running! I appreciate it. You'd think I'd know by now!
Looking forward to any other identification help.

The Majolica is probably German, the Japanese plate is just a decorative piece. JMHO

It is a fairly new piece - the signature may just be something along the lines of "Made in Japan" or the like - it doesn't look familiar to me.
I've always referred to the blue and white pieces as Arita-ware. Not sure if this is technically correct though. It is pretty. For more info, you can try the Gotheberg site which gives some good background on Japanese pieces:

I KNOW I have seen that mark JF before on green dish you have. The trapazoid looking mark under the "515" is also familiar. HUMMMM

Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone that responded. I find it hard to believe I found two pieces of the greenware with the same maker's mark in one weekend at different locations. I've never seen this type of pottery before. I'm not sure I'm convinced its from Portugal. I didn't notice the trapezoidal imprint until after the photo was taken.
I appreciate the help in research with the words cabbage and lettuce!!
Thanks again!

I do have to say in regards to Portugal that this site:
http://store.mediterraneanfoodmarket.com/caapbo.html
which I quote as saying:
Mediterranean art has never been so apparent as it is through the Portuguese company, Bordalo Pinheiro founded in 1884 by Rafael Bordalo, who since then has produced true handcrafted works of art in ceramic. One of their main themes is that of fruits and vegetables from the Mediterranean, especially cabbage, where he created and developed his own style through his main line of serve ware more popularly known as cabbage-ware. The evidence is in this piece with dramatic embossing and colors from the Mediterranean Cabbage.
