Roadsmith here. Back from the hospital and rehab after 2.5 weeks and so glad to be in God's mountain country again. All went well with the knee replacement, and I was praised by the therapists for my "high pain threshold" and willingness to do the danged exercises. Made a few new "temporary" friends in rehab who needed some encouragement. Missed Ebay and Vendio desperately but am lucky to have a great husband to fetch and carry for me around here until I'm totally read to kick butt again.

I'd encourage anyone who needs the surgery to go ahead and have it. The pain management is much better these days than it was 8 years ago when I had my hip replacement.

Glad to hear it went well. Hopefully you'll be back up to full speed soon and all the pain and rehab will become a dim memory.

That was quick - I thought you'd be offline for longer. Glad to hear it went well. Be careful if you list under the influence of Vicodin - I can tell you from experience it could get ugly!

welcome back I was quite sure the rehab place would have internet and you would of been teaching "how to sell on Ebay ala SalGal" or something like that.

I had a knee scoped a few years ago and I personally think a knee injury is THE MOST painful thing to have happen to you. My rehab was swimming and I can highly recommend it. No weight and lots of flexibility!

BTW if you have any of that Vicodin left over.....!!!!

Welcome back Roadsmith. Glad to hear everything went o.k. I know what hubby is going through. My wife had surgery for a torn rotor cuff last week, so it really keeps me hopping. At least, you can't kick his butt for awhile, and my wife can't throw anything at me

Caroline: I can't imagine trying to list under the influence of Vicodin! Just last evening I was sending duplicate messages to friends, forgetting I'd already done so. Thank goodness I have 103 items ready to launch as soon as I can think through start and stop times.

Functioning with Vicodin has never been a problem... it's functioning the next day. If everyone has the same reaction I do to that drug I fully understand becoming addicted to it. The day after I take it I wake up with a headache that would make grown men cry. I've had to take it three times and each time I have had the same reaction. I can see taking a couple more to get rid of that stabbing pain in my brain and the vicious circle begins.

Good to hear that you are well though Roady! Welcome back to the funny farm.

Glad to see you back, Roadsmith! I knew you'd do alright - it's just the fear beforehand that can get out of control. So, what does your new knee feel like? Is it weird?

Fenix, if you get a headache after taking pain medication, it's usually because you didn't eat while on them. Make sure you have a full belly next time!!

Wow! That was fast! You must have one heck of a healthy body to heal so quickly. Glad you hear you are doing so well!

P.S...I relinquished my Vicodin Queen Crown a couple of months ago as the pain from my shoulder reconstructive surgery (chipped bone, torn rotator cuff) is manageable with Ultram and my listings were a disaster!

Minnie: I heal quickly, which makes for less sympathy and pity than would normally come my way. Better to heal fast, though, than to get all that pity for a real problem with healing.

Kraft: My new knee is a bit red and swollen, still, but it actually feels (on the inside) like a normal knee. So strange, what they can do these days. I'm bending it back very well--much better than in the last 2 years. Had my post-op with the surgeon today and he's pleased with my progress.

The doc told me I was going to need serious hip surgery. My response was to go to Peru and hike the Andes to Macchu Pichu (or is it Machu Picchu?). Now I feel better than ever.

(this is not to say you didn't need your surgery, however).
