Hi could use some opinions here. Is this a wine rack, or a magazine rack? First thought it a wine rack, but if you were to put three bottles on each shelf, then the bottles on the outer sides wouldnt lay right, as it is not wide enough?...Can you see what I mean? Or would it be for just one bottle on each layer? thanks for any input.

I'm thinking it's a magazine rack but that could be the result of trying to think with me head at a 90 degree angle.

I also say magazine rack. It looks like the shelves are tilted back to keep them from sliding off. A wine rack needs to be forward to keep the corks wet.

thanks herbsand crafts (cash, ya trying to confuse me? )

I was wishing I had some type of liquor bottles in the house to test it out but the best I could come up with is a plastic bottle of ketchup! But you know, if you put the bottle in neck foward, it does tilt so the liquid runs to the front? But its not that big of a tilt to make it 'rush' to the front so I still dont know?

Solution...get me a bottle of wine today and see?

herb,

I guess it all depends on which direction you put the bottle in

It's a magazine rack, Double. I would say 30's to early 40's.

It's actually a fireplace kit from the 40's. You place 3 logs on each of the shelves, set it inside the fireplace, crumple up newspaper underneath it and light. In about 20 minutes, you'll have a cozy, romantic fire going.

I remember seeing a magazine rack similar to this one in my doctor's waiting room in the 60's or 70's. There were chairs in rows with their backs together in the center of the room, I guess to make use of all the sitting space because there were chairs around the perimeter also, and this was on the end so people in both rows of chairs could get to the magazines.

And who says you can't use this as a wine rack? Those boxes of wine should fit nicely....hahahaha
