I have had several auctions show that I marked them paid but I did not. I REALLY know that I did not. Has anyone had this problem? Does this occur when the customer indicates he/she has sent payment?
Thanks for any insight!

In my experience, when the customer marks an item as paid, the item has a "pending payment" icon (and when you hover over the icon, it says "buyer marked as paid on" xx date or "buyer marked as payment sent" on xx date - something along those lines anyway).
If I mark an item as paid (as I just did with a couple of items), the item has the paid (dollar sign) icon and when I hover over the icon, it says "you marked this item as paid" on xx date.
I've never had an item marked that I indicated pymt was received but that I was certain I hadn't so marked - but with ebay and all it's many glitches I certainly wouldn't rule it out. Hope you are able to get things worked out.

I have had a plague of these in the past couple of weeks. I was going to call my rep about it, but it slipped my mind.

I have them that show they are paid but they are actually the ones that I am waiting for checks or money orders on. I think the buyer marks them from their end but for some reason the item shows as a paid icon on my end but should be a pending. I had one just a couple days ago I had to undo as payment received because I am waiting on a check.

Yup! Happened to me today. Auction page says You Have Marked This as Paid on Oct 20.
I did NOT do that, didn't receive payment in the mail so went to PayPal which does not show a payment. This must be a PayPal glitch - don't think the buyer could do this.
Could they?

I had a buyer go through Vendio checkout; it appeared to her that she had paid via PayPal, and the item was marked "by me" as having been paid, though of course I did no such thing and there was nothing in PayPal about it.
She seemed entirely sincere, and tried to pay "again." It didn't work. I sent her an invoice, and she was able to pay that way.

I've been seeing that stuff for weeks in My Ebay. I just ignore it, since I have my own record-keeping methods. But way to go, Ebay, huh.

Road,
I don't pay attention to it either, but the problem is that apparently buyers do, and it has on at least one occasion seemed to keep them from being able to pay.

I haven't had this happen but you CAN unmark the item as "Payment Received" by clicking on "Payment Details" - there is a link for that there.

I have the opposite happen all the time. Customer will pay by PayPal, then marks as sending payment. EBay ahows it as Check is in the mail. When I go into view the individual payment, it says "buyer Paid by PayPal but you have marked this as Unpaid" Very wierd.

All in all, not eBay's best software engineering

This is happening again. Apparently Vendio checkout gets a "Error on page" on or near the last page of checkout, and then it's marked paid. So buyers wonder if they're double-paying, and they can't pay unless you send them an invoice un-related to eBay auctions.
What a drag. I notified Vendio support today.

Claude - Can't you just go to "Payment Details" and mark "unpaid" and then send another invoice manually?

Neglus,
I hadn't realized that you could mark it Unpaid. But, sending an invoice is a pain, and I'm just waiting for someone to insist that they really paid and that I'm trying to get their money twice.
I do thank you for your suggestion, though, I'll do it the next time the software mis-behaves

Ah, for the old days of eBay when we sellers controlled our own sales! All this extra complexity does nothing to streamline the sales process - we still have to wait for payment to clear before shipping.
