I see worse spelling than this in auctions every day. Try looking under tools and fishing. I do not think the buyers mind because here is a feeback left for me for a reel I sold a couple of weeks ago. "beat reel i ever got. thank you"

English is definitely not their first language. Learning this language has to be hard enough, just image learning to spell in this language and spell correctly. If you think about it, English has to be incredibly hard to learn. Too many of our words are spelled the same, but mean the same. Too many sound alike, but are spelled differently. Some are not at all spelled how they sound. What a chore for someone who was born elsewhere.
However, a spell checker goes a long way! Although I don't know if a spell checker could have picked up some of the words this seller spelled wrong. I will give credit to the fact that they have at least learned the language!
If this seller turns out to be from the USA originally, we really need to rethink our schooling methods.

I agree with Cheryl - the seller's name makes me think English is his second (or third or fourth) language. Give the guy a break!
Toolhound - your FB is obviously a typo and not bad spelling ("a" is right next to the "s" - I've done it myself and there is no way to correct once FB is sent.
There are enough spelling/grammar errors right on this board (by native speakers) to turn any English teacher's hair white. Common ones:
- Category (not catagory)
- Misuse of the apostrophe - Apostrophes are used to show possession and contractions and not for plurals!
-This one drives me BESERK :
"would've" is the contraction of the words "would" and "have" and not "would" and "of" (ditto to "should of" and "could of"
Ok - I'm off my soapbox now Just thought I'd take the opportunity when it wouldn't hurt or embarass an individual poster.

this one's my pet peeve - commerical instead of commercial. see it on eBay, in newspaper ads, even on business cards! do i really want to do business with someone who can't spell a word on their business card? not.

In the case of business cards, I would certainly avoid doing business with the *printer of those cards.
Many people with 12 years of education in this country can't spell all words correctly. Based on his feedback, Carlos is doing a great job and I would have no qualms about doing business with him.

Psst, Neglus, berserk has two Rs!
I do think that someone for whom English is a second language would be smart to get a friend to proofread his descriptions. I do understand how hard our language is to learn, but the seller needs to understand that people will judge him unfairly by his spelling, not taking into account any personal circumstances.

The encouraging thing is that 98% of the bidders can't read either
I learned English at the age of 7; my father learned at the age of 50. I'm clearly no smarter than my father, but try as he might, he never could lose his accent, and his spelling was sometimes comical. More accurately, his spelling in English was a target of jest, but his spelling in German, Spanish, and French was just fine, thanks.
I know of a few very intelligent people who can't spell well, but they have enough self-awareness to use a spell-checker.
Somewhat on topic, I remember a post-match interview with Steffi Graf and her American opponent (whose name has slipped my mind). Steffi, the German, spoke much better English than the native tennis player, and for that matter, better English than 90% of American football players.

DOH! I just see that I mispelled Dr. Seuss (Seuess), in the title no less. It already has 22 bids, so I guess they won't let me revise it

I would bid on Carlos's auctions, in fact I did, or tried to. I had a snipe on the Lime Aftershave. It was for 11.99, but it didn't bid because I was too low.
I'm sure he speaks two languages & it's very good to be able to do that.
He states the item is made by Shalton when it is actully Shulton. That info is right on the bottle, getting it wrong was careless.
If not for that I probably would not have singled him out.
