Need some input please!
I got a negative, my first. The buyer paid on 10-1 (Saturday) I shipped 10-3 (Monday). She emailed on 10-15 asking when I shipped (I emailed her 10-3 after I shipped it).
I answered right away, and told her she could either wait a few more days, or I would refund now, whichever was better for her. She said she would wait.
She waited till the 19th, left me a neg and filed with paypal. I refunded her as soon as I got the email from paypal.
Neg left:they offered to refund, but no package takes almost a month to get from MS to CO
So. I want to reply, and I want to leave her one too. Yes, I know....petty of me.
Thoughts?

Don't feel petty - there was no reason for her to leave you a negative. You did all you could.
If you don't use a online shipping label, you may want to start. It is at least proof that you paid for shipping and printed the label which is better then nothing.
By the way, was it insured?
I would reply to her FB that you did all that you could or say nothing at all - she makes herself look like a jerk anyway.
Then I would leave her a big fat negative like "Leaves unfair FB - Seller beware" That's much nicer than she deserves but makes you look great.

First of all, how did you ship it? Was there DC if through the USPS, or tracking if through UPS or FedEx? If so (which there should have been if you accept Paypal) does it show delivered? Your response to the neg, plus the feedback you leave for her will depend on whether she is a scammer, or an honest person with a short fuse.

"Item lost by USPS, provided prompt refund, negged anyway." - Use the same thing to respond to her negative to you. Whatever you use, be rational and factual. Being a raving lunatic will do nothing to win you bidders.

As a seller, if I saw feedback like that, I'd probably add that bidder to my blocked list. No package takes a month to get from MS to CO?? How about a Priority package that took a month to get from Ohio to Maryland? It just irks me that these people think we should be held accountable for what the USPS does or doesn't do.

Follow the advice of sparkz and ladyjewels, print your shipping labels online and always get delivery confirmation!! That way, you have proof for PayPal. Make them have to go through their credit card companies. It's a bigger hassle.

Edited to add: BTW, congrats on your first neg. We consider them badges of honor around here. You haven't truely made it until some jerky bidder comes around and leaves you an uncalled for neg!

I don't think it is petty either - If it was my fault and I get a neg, no way I am going to neg back. However, when it isn't my fault (and it usually isn't) you bet I will. My last two negs, one was a used dvd (buyer thought it was new, couldn't be bothered to read my description which stated it was used) and the latest was a package that was shipped the next business day via media mail, did not arrive quickly and he negged, even though he could have upgraded to a faster shipping option. Both got negs, and it felt good to leave them.

I honestly hate the feedback system, but it isn't going anywhere nor will there be significant changes. Sometimes I wonder if I am in the business to just be leaving feedback, like the item purchased is a secondary consideration. I think for some transactions, it is!

cblev65252:
Thanks! I used the one you suggested. I'm sorry to say that it felt really good to see that neg on her feedback.

sparkz: Up until this mess with Katrina,(I lost just about everything that wouldn't fit in a shoebox) there wasn't a single package that left here without DC. I use Shipping Assistant, and was starting to print the labels/postage through PayPal. Now I have no printer, and I'm using a borrowed computer. Not a good reason, I know. But, just this once I thought it wouldn't be a problem. Duh!
Anyway, I don't THINK she was a scammer, just a short fuse. However, not nearly as short as mine has been the last month or so.
Thanks for the help, sometimes I get lots of senior moments in a row.
