What a rip off that turned out to be.
I thought I was signing up for a free month. Missed my deadline and got billed for a month - no big deal. I ordered my "FREE" scale which never came!!!!
Today I wanted to cancel my account prior to the next billing.
Of course you can't DO THAT online, so I called and was on hold for 45 minutes????
Then they informed me that my final payment would be bill in the next day or two but my account is closed today. Seems it was never free but just worded to sound like it was.
I told them to mail my %*##@@$ scale and they could stick their stamps #*%#@#.
Now that I've vented - at least I feel better

The "scale" you get from USPS is not an actual scale. It's three long pieces of plastic each meant to determine an approximate weight. You put your item on it. If the knob at the bottom touches the hard surface you've place it on, you have to go to the next size. Never used mine. I just went out and bought a cheap one.

Cheryl,
I never received my free scale either; now I don't feel so bad for having bought a real one.
I dropped out of Stamps.com a while ago. PayPal postage works well for me.

I'm still in the dark ages and use my old utility scale. It hasn't been wrong yet. And I use either PayPal or the USPS site directly and print my postage on plain cheap paper and use clear tape that I got at a yardsale for 50c a roll to stick it to my boxes. I know, I know...I'm cheap, but it has worked for years now, so why change?

It looks like it's a nice one from Stamp.com but I'm not hoping for too much after everything else. I will be surprised if I even get it.

I don't think Ladyjewels was very ladylike to Stamps.com
I am also in the dark ages - I use an old baby scale that lost it's basket that I bought at an auction about 6 years ago. I've gotten more use out of that $7.50 scale then probably anything else I've ever bought!
It weighs my packages, puppies, you name it!

Lady: You are better off without them. Customer service is terrible. I sent a large postage misprint for refund and they claimed they never got it even tho I had a dc that indicated otherwise. I argued and remailed the paper work with the proof of delivery and all to no avail.
I quit them immediately. Now use Endicia and get immediate customer service and refunds.

I know - I logged in to see what they had to offer. I thought it was free all the time so when I got far enough to see it was - I thought I'd go ahead and try it for the trial period which I still thought was free.
What really got me PO'd the other morning was that it took 10 minutes to find out that you could not cancel on line and then another 45 minutes on hold when I called. By that time I was seeing red and then when she told me I owed more money - well that just did it. (carolinetyler-I didn't really use all the #@#%^*#@# with her but I sure wanted to - after all it wasn't really her fault).
I have been printing with Paypal for months and really love it. I don't see how Stamps.com can have any customers.
Tom if I don't get the scale - does Ralphie give a Vendio Discount????

I tried Stamps.com briefly and hated it.
I now use and will always only use Endicia. It's very very well worth the $15 a month I pay to use it. Customer service is fantastic, the product works, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Stealth postage ~ I'm a huge supporter of Endicia.
I went to Staples and bought a scale that weights up to something like 75 pounds or something. IT cost me $50 but it was worth the investment and I've used it time and time again.
Free stuff doesn't usually mean good stuff.

I never used stamps.com, but used Pitney Bowes (way back when) and that was a ripoff. I love Endicia, and if you want a scale, buy one from Tomwii - I love the one I got from him, plus it is nice to buy from another seller here.

Hey, here's a question for those that use Endicia.com's "stealth" mode: Doe it have to be only for Priority Mail or Express Mail? If so, it seems to be defeating it's purpose of concealing the actual postage spent so the customer doesn't complain about handling charges. Seems someone that ships First Class or Media Mail would need Stealth Mode a whole lot more.
Any details would be appreciated.

I bought a kitchen scale that will weigh up to 25 lbs. I tested it with a lb of butter & then with 2 lbs, It was right on, so I have used it for years. For either FedEx or UISPS, it is accurate enough. If something is over a pound m then it goes for the 2 poubd rate, so it it doesn't have to be an expensive scale.

Thanks for the tip about Endicia's Stealth Mode. Before, I thought I heard it was for higher classes of US Mail only. Now I know differently, and I appreciate your help.

Yes, I use stealth for media mail, parcel post and first class mail. I had a local high school student here today (the school has a graduation requirement about visiting some sort of business to be a shadow) and we were talking about that very subject. Once I went to stealth mode, no more complaints about my postage fees. There are those out there that feel if they pay a penny more, you are ripping them off. Harder to tell if the price is nowhere on the label!

"free" postage scale takes about 60 days to finally get to you...ONLY a 5lb limit piece of $@$#@$#@. Shop on ebay...ULTRASHIP ULTRA 35 scale is nice for the price..35lb limit/detachable face. Stamps.com also has the hidden postage, plus free delivery confirmation. If using priority mail get your neighborhood post"person" to pick up your packages when they delivery your mail..no charge. Been using STAMPS.com for awhile now...any of these programs are helpful, beats waiting in line at PO, especially approaching season. As for the FREE offers..not worth much, STAMPS gives you $20(postage) for referring new customers.
