I got an email a short while ago and I'm not sure how to answer it.

My checkbook covers range in cost from $5.00 to $6.00 depending on the cost of the original fabric and how much of it I have, have access to, etc. I got an email about a cover that is $5.50 and the person asked me to sell it to them flat for $5.00 plus shipping. The fabric is question is more expensive and I don't have a lot of it which is why the price is slightly higher.

I already sell my items low cost ~ how do I reply to this email without sounding like a beyotch because I'm not lowering my already low price?

Or do I just not answer it at all?

Thanks!

Let me also add that I'm about...$714 (but who's counting ) away from making Bronze Powerseller which has been my goal for months and I continue to JUSTMISSITBYTHISMUCH. It's a huge possibility that I can do it this month. I don't want to push off any sales or potential buyers but again..I don't want to lose money.

Advice?

Thanks again!

I mostly sell consignments so my answer is easy. My consignor sets the price and it's already set as low as they are prepared to go. Thank you for asking.

Which is a polite way of saying....put your offer where the sun don't shine.

Most of our bottom-feeders receive the infamous:

"Mr Ralph J. Dog Canine-Moon Treatment"

response for even asking such a dumb-arse question in da first place...IOW: ignore them!

Helga -- Don't respond and put her on your BBL. If you respond saying that you can't lower the price, and she purchases it, you will be in for a headache with her. She'll complain about every little thing -- I guarantee it!

On the other hand, if you're justthisclose to bronze powerseller and the extra 50 cents would make a difference, do it. Otherwise, you've gotten some good advice here.

Don't lower your price, Helga, but DO respond to your buyer, letting her know this is a higher quality fabric and thus the price is higher.

Better yet, give us the link to that particular cover and I will bid on it for you. I need a nicer checkbook cover--my old plastic one is falling apart. That should settle the issue with your 'maybe' buyer! (But let me know your S&H fees before I make that 'promise', as I've complained recently, here on this board, about excessive S&H fees.)

The seller wants to buy the item for 50 cents less??? Are you kidding?? Your response will be "NO." How cheap can a person be? If he/she can't afford the 50 cents, she shouldn't be splurging on an extravagance like a cbook cover.

Helga...Bizzy hit the nail on the head. Don't respond to this bottomfeeder and block her immediately. You'll have nothing but trouble if you deal with her.

I do not reply to these type emails that is the only way for me to be nice to them. Also trust me Bronze PowerSeller means nothing to anyone but you. The bidders do not seem to care.

My shipping and handling is $3.00 usually for a cover or a set and a 3 pc set is $3.50.

Here is the link to the cover she was asking about ~

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6816921660&sspagename=ADME:B:AAQ:US:1

The fabric in question is more expensive than normal fabric, that's why I price those covers higher.

Like I mentioned before, my single checkbook covers don't cost a fortune! I was a little surprised to get that email from her.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I really do appreciate it!

toolhound I know the bidders don't care about Powerseller status. It's just been a goal of mine since I started selling checkbook covers and the accessories I sell and for the last couple months I've come close every single month. This month I could really possibly do it.

That's all. I probably won't hold it after Christmas but just to make it there once, that's been a longtime goal for me.

I would sell it to her, what would you do if you came up just $4 short of your goal? This person's a pain, but you can work with her if it's worth it to you, and I know that is an important goal for you.

BTW, the cover's adorable!

I put her on my BBL.

I checked her feedback.

She's a newbie, 3 feedbacks with 2 other wins of items less than $1.00.

I don't know if other sellers have done it for her but I just can't. My items aren't that expensive to begin with.

Thanks for the compliment Carolinetyler I try really hard to find different and unusual fabric so I can keep my line growing Laurel Burch is really popular.

I agree with what pelorus said. I can't imagine anyone asking for a 50 cent decrease.

This one's a classic. Say NO
