I think I've heard from 5 Canadians this week about packages not getting delivered after 10+ days. Has anyone heard about a customs slowdown like we had last year?

Probably not a slowdown per se, just customs officials checking every package to see what goodies they are taking home for Christmas this year!

Or perhaps they are concerned about the terrorist activities, and have been told to check every thing properly. Dont forget they had a bird flu scare too.

I live in Canada, but I don't think it is just customs. I have been selling on eBay for 8 years, and this happens every year at this time, I think it because of the Christmas catalogues going out. I have mailed packages to England and Japan in the last 2 weeks, one arrived in 2 days, another in 3, and the Japanese one in 6, much quicker than when I mail to the US, I had one package take over 3 weeks. Not only is there a lot of extra mail between the US and Canada at this time of year, but (thankfully) they check a lot of it.

I shipped to two different Canadian customers and both arrived in less than a week. It's the one to France that has me concerned.

In the beginning of October I shipped an Air Letter Post and a Global Priority package to Canada. Both took 12 days to arrive. I assume customs was the hang-up, but it could have been the postal service. And the Global Priority customer (a newbie) left me negative feedback due to the package taking longer to arrive than expected, even though I shipped the item as soon as I received payment.

oh here we go again, the canada bashing...it's so provincial. yawn. never had one single problem buying from or selling to canucks

as a canuck stuck in the states for now, there's nothing i want more than to leave the provincialism of the u.s. of a behind, best exemplified by fox "news" and it's relentless "spin" and belief that the universe revolves around the u.s. of a.

A canadien would say that, eh.

I think they get their whininess from the francophile influence.

vintage: Actually, the universe does revolve around the U.S. As the largest free market in the world, any person or entity seeking to enrich itself is inevitably drawn to the U.S. sooner or later.

When Canada institutes its own standing army to defend its borders, when Canada becomes a dominant market force, when Canadian newspapers stop being full of U.S.-bashing articles and instead focus on world-class Canadian achievements....well, perhaps then I'll take Canuck sneering seriously.

On a personal note, the most unpleasant and arrogantly pompous people I have ever had to deal with in my eBay business are not Americans; they are Canadians. It's gotten so I don't even have to see the .ca address any more.

it's interesting, how canucks never start u.s.a. bashing threads. it's always the americans who start this nonsense. provincial AND rude.

end of my participation in this insult thread started by an american, of course. never ceases to amaze me, how little americans understand of the world around them. could write a book about it, but have actual work to do.

"Can't we all just learn to get along?"

Nah!

P.T.A. MEETING (TOPIC: KIDS OUT OF CONTROL)
SHEILA: Parents, our children are out of control! This is what happens when toilet humour is allowed to run rampant!
SHARON: That's right. Kenny set himself on fire because he saw Terrance and Phillip do it in that dirty movie.
SHEILA: We must stop dirty language from getting to our children's ears. We must go fight the source of it.
MOTHER: But what is the source?
SHEILA: Oh, that's easy.

SHEILA:
Times have changed
Our kids are getting worse
They won't obey their parents
They just want to fart and curse

SHARON:
Should we blame the government?

LIANE:
Or blame society?

RANDY MARSH, GERALD BROFLOVSKI, and STUART MCCORMICK:
Or should we blame the images on TV?

SHEILA: No!

SHEILA:
Blame Canada

PARENTS:
Blame Canada

SHEILA:
For their beady little eyes
And flappin' heads so full o' lies

SHEILA and PARENTS:
Blame Canada
Blame Canada

SHEILA:
We need to form a full assault

PARENTS:
It's Canada's fault

SHARON:
Don't blame me
For my son Stan
He saw the darned cartoon
And now he's off to join the Klan

LIANE:
And my boy Eric, once
Had my picture on his shelf
But now when I see him
He tells me to fxxx myself

SHEILA: Well?

SHEILA:
Blame Canada

SHEILA and PARENTS:
Blame Canada

SHEILA:
It seems that everything's gone wrong
Since Canada came along

PARENTS:
Blame Canada
Blame Canada

COPY SHACK EMPLOYEE:
They're not even a real country anyway

MRS. MCCORMICK:
My son could've been
A doctor or a lawyer, rich and true
Instead he burned up
Like a piggy on a barbecue

PARENTS:
Should we blame the matches?
Should we blame the fire?
Or the doctors who allowed him to expire?

SHEILA: Heck no!

SHEILA and PARENTS:
Blame Canada
Blame Canada

SHEILA:
With all their hockey hullabaloo

LIANE:
And that beach Anne Murray, too

SHEILA and PARENTS:
Blame Canada
Shame on Canada for-
The smut we must cut
The trash we must smash
The laughter and fun
Must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming us

My goal wasn't to bash Canada, but to see if anyone else was experiencing slow Canadian deliveries. I know last time this happened, it was the Vancouver customs that was the problem, and I am in Oregon, so all my Canadian packages go through Vancouver.

I love Canadian customers. I wouldn't even consider NOT shipping to Canada or elsewhere in the world.
