Just got another one of those fake Paypal e-mails, where they say you've just paid like $890.00 for something (which of course you didn't) and click on this link for refund (which of course I don't).
The thing is, the e-mail was addressed to me by full NAME! Kind of e-mail could fool some people.
So where's the compromise? Does Paypal get hacked, eBay, or what other source can get that kind of correct personal information?
Just curious what you think.
Went over to Paypal anyway and changed/upgraded my password and security questions.

Searched Google, the only shock is that I'm not there (as expected). Lots of people with my name, not me though ~ and anyway, even if there was a Google article relating directly to me, someone wouldn't have sufficient information from that to link my name to both my e-mail and Paypal account.

UP, I've been saying the same thing for ages now. I get xxxtimes more spam while running auctions than I do when not running auctions, so someone has figured out a way to harvest ebay addresses.
There is also a chance that one of your buyers (who paid with PP) used your PP invoice to sell your name and address off to a spam engine.
ie: They visit a porn site that asks for a name and an email address. They don't want to use their's but your last email is conveniently available in their INBOX.
Think about it, I'm sure it happens all too regularly.
