I've said it before and I'll say it again, never leave more in your PayPal account than you can afford to lose!

I'm a strong advocate of a diversified portfolio. Funds should be invested equally in stocks, bonds, and lottery tickets.

Lucy...A much safer investment than in an uninsured instrument offered by a unregulated company. Walnuts actually have a higher rate of return than most certificates anyway. But this year, it's oranges in California. After what Wilma did to the crop in Florida, it will be cheaper to buy a gallon of gas than it will be to buy a screwdriver at the local watering hole.

I couldn't believe the price of oranges at the grocery store!! Tangerines were 3 for 99 cents. OTOH, I bought a small crate of Clementines for $6! They're my favorite and are usually more expensive than that!

Lucy...I suppose you could. Never gave it much thought. I was thinking more along the lines of getting into a group and buying an orchard. It would be great news for Niel and the rest of the people in Florida. The minute I buy an orange grove, there won't be another hurricane that will come within 500 miles of Florida for the next 10 years.
A few years back, we got hit with a devastating freeze here. It completely destroyed about 95% of the lemons. A couple of enterprising young hispanic guys who sell at the local swap meet on Sundays saw what was happening as they were pickers during the week. Before any damage estimates could be announced, they call a cousin in either Ventura or Arizona (never did find out for sure which) and had him go to a local packing house and buy all the lemons he could load on his truck and bring them up here. They stored them in their garage until the damage estimates were announced. The price of lemons skyrocketed. You guessed it, they brought those lemons out to the swap and made a killing. They were sold out in less than an hour, mostly to produce vendors who marked up the outrageous prices to obscene levels when they resold them. They had a limited english vocabulary, but capitalism was one of the words they understood very well after that Sunday.

if you sign up for MM,then the balance is always in MM,there is no sweeping,
Most of us just keep a small balance there, anyone who keeps a large balance in MM account could be hiding it from Uncle Sam,spouse or soon to be ex spouse, creditors ,or they plan on buying big ticket items such as plane tickets or appliances to get that rebate.
I know when I bot my house ,i transferred some money into Paypal MM account so I can go shopping with my debit card.
