I went to the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery today. It was a comfortable breezy day with crisp clean air due to recent light rains. We paid our respects to fallen comrades, noting sadly the few graves we saw interspersed here and there for nineteen, twenty, thirty, and forty year olds from the gulf war and Persian conflict and OIF.
We stood a little straighter and walked a little slower. We were patient with the children and stopped to notice the wildlife, birds, rabbits, squirrels, a tarantula. The cemetery is kept in a natural state and it is wonderfully peaceful.
