Packed up and moving on Sunday. Worse time to move but had to do it if I wanted the house up there. Sales are zilch of course, but will get back in it as soon as I can. I am like a fish outa water with no listings. Will get in touch when I get hooked up again.

St. Augustine is a boootiful city!

Nice place to live! Wish Ralphie would get off his lard-butt & get a job so we could afford to live there...

I'm with you on the food thing! There's nothing like "on the road" food. I've found the best places to eat like that. Just ask estatesalestuff. Going down to visit her is how I found Fishers. Best BBQ pork sandwich I ever had. And, their draft rootbeer is to die for.

Good luck and have fun! The packing is a chore, but to me unpacking in a new home is always fun! Have a great adventure.

"...on the rock food..."

When I was a kid, we had a "cottage" about 1/8mi away (CYCADE AVE) from Nubble Lighthouse (aka: Cape Neddick Light) in York Beach, ME...

Right across from the lighthouse was a fantastic LOBSTER POND -- you picked out yer "bug" & they dumped it into the steamer and then (with drawn butter & paper plate) you ate this AMBROSIA FROM THE GODS right there "on the rocks!"

ABSOLUTE #1 BESTEST SEAFOOD EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE...

Dave: Here's my tip for losing weight. Have a knee replaced; eat salt-free hospital food and then rehab unit food for 2.5 weeks; go home and find it difficult to jump up for a snack. Voila - 17 pounds in a month. Looooove it.

And, Neva, good luck to you. Some close friends of ours live in St. A. and have sent us photos which are just beautiful. You'll be happy there, I'm sure.

Neva...Are you REALLY sure you want to move to St. Augustine? You're gonna miss all the tropical storms and hurricanes up there. Had a customer there that said he got a little rain from Wilma and that was all. You got to find something there to keep you alert, otherwise you'll relax and get old And yes, I agree with the others, hit all the out of the way restaurants you can en route. BTW, don't know if it applies to you or not, but if this move is being made for health reasons or employment, your moving expenses, including the meals, as well as a good portion of all realtor fees and any other expenses incurred in the move are tax deductible.

Thanks for all your comments and interest. As for roadside eateries, I doubt if we will stop as my daughter is driving a 26' uHaul and towing her SUV. Salty the dog will be her co-pilot. I will be behind her in my van with the other 2 dogs and the parrot. The Clampetts will have nothing on us. It will be hard to stop with this going on and we may drive the 5 hours straight through on Sunday, although the Cracker Barrel Restaurant would be tempting. On Monday, 2 fellows will show up to help unload.

Yes Sparky, will really miss the storms, UGH. We have rain today and hope to 'ell the roof doesn't leak. The move is not related to health or employment, although maybe the health part could be attributed to the hurricanes.

My daughter went to Flagler College in St. A, so she knows all the good places to visit, eat and drink. She used to work with the horse and carriage rides while going to school so knows the history of St. A, etc.

Niel ... glad you are leaving Hurricane Alley!!!

I luv St Augustine. Am going to JAX the first week in Jan, leaving here NYD (1-1-06) Visiting my only aunt for a few days.
We plan to take a day trip to St Aug. I have been there many many times, love to walk the old fort , might even take a drink from the fountain of youth ( I sorely need it)

EWH!Uck! pTH!

Don't even think about it!

Some friends and I went over 2 years ago and I was all set up to collect a few bottles from the "spring". It turns out that the City of StA has decided that the ground water is not safe to drink and so the fountain is now nothing more than water from the municipal supply.

Good to know, Ray. My house is on well water but have been told it is perfectly safe. Its south of St. A. though on a hill so maybe less contaminated. Will have it checked tho

Well, after 10 days, am hooked up again.
We arrived at 1:30AM with the 26' UHaul, 3 dogs and a parrot. My daughter took the new pup out on the patio for a pee and he just kept walking and into the pool. He had never seen one before. We have given him the nickname, "Jesus". Have had plumbing problems and phone problems so DSL is screwed up along with the phone lines. Nice to be back with you all. Hope I can get some listing done soon. Still unpacking loads of boxes, tho. Where did I get all this stuff????

congrats to you and Jesus, too! Enjoy your new life there. Isn't it great to be in a new place and then get unpacked and listing on Ebay again!

I really meant for antiques and collectibles!!! LOL
I don't shop retail anymore - if I can't find it at the local thrift store or garage sale - well I just don't buy it!!!
Of course I'll help if I can recall back when I shopped retail.
I do know some local supplier for shipping etc.
