I have had SO MANY buyers in the last couple of months never see my end-of-auction e-mails, and today it happened again. I filed a dispute, finally, about an overdue payment, for which I'd sent 3 separate messages, and the buyer says none came through to him (he has Yahoo e-mail). It's beginning to interfere with my selling, and I have no idea what to do about this. Any thoughts?

In the dispute console, ask him 2 questions.

1) What is your correct email address.

2)Do you check your spam folder?

The reason for the first is that the only information you have about his email address is what Ebay sends you. It may or may not be correct or current. Only the buyer knows what his current email address is.

The reason for the second question is that it is impossible for him to log into his email account and not see how many emails there are in his bulk folder. It is right next to the link to his inbox folder. If he doesn't look in his bulk folder occasionally, he won't know if your notices got through or not. I sent one of my regular EOA notices to myself at my Yahoo account and it went straight to the inbox. Yahoo did not see it as spam. Infact, if a customer fails to respond to a regular EOA notice of mine, I send a second notice from my Yahoo account and we usually complete the transaction through that email address. I have never had an Ebay related message go into my spam folder. My guess is that he registered that Yahoo account with Ebay long ago and forgot about it and uses another email addy now. Your notices should not be going into his spam folder. Unless you're selling Viagra.

I'm having the same sort of problem with MSN and Hotmail. I just sent an item today that was concluded over the phone. He never got any of my emails or notices, nor did he receive an eoa from Ebay.

Thanks, sparkz! Honestly, it's just been one Yahoo account after another that doesn't get notices from Ebay OR from my EOA messages. Very aggravating.

I use yahoo and even have a web hosting account with them. Can't say I personally have ever had a problem getting emails. My problem seem's to be with AOL customers. I get about 1 or 2 email's to AOL customers a week that get sent back either stating mail box full or email address could not be found. I know the feeling, very frustrating.

I agree. Yahoo isn't the problem. Works great for me. Never ever had one legite ebay or seller inquiry go to junk mail.

Now AOL and earthlink, that's a different story. Nothing but trouble. Everything goes to their junk mail folders.

I've had Yahoo hosted email for a number of years. When I had the spam filter turned on, I was always missing emails from customers because Yahoo saw them as spam and sent them to the bulk folder. Even when I would move them, mark them approved, etc., Yahoo would continue to see them as spam. But most of the Viagra, Cialis, XXX garbage got through the filter to my inbox - go figure.

There seem to be a number of customers on Yahoo, AOL, others, that don't seem to realize the spam folder exists, or how to access it.

After filing a dispute, here's the message that finally has come from the buyer:

hello from alaska,I will send off a ck. for 22.45 I need your address, I ck.my junk mail found your
11/7 e-mail sorry about the delay dan

I suppose I should put in big letters at the top of the description something like "aol and yahoo users, if you win this item, please check your junk/spam files for end-of-auction message." If yahoo and aol would make it clear to its users that they HAVE junk/spam files, maybe that would help, too.

He may have found your 11/7 email, but he obviously didn't READ it. Why would he have to ask now for your address? Nuts, indeed! Sheesh!
