I'm sick, so my ordinarily short fuse is about 1mm long these days.

Some scumsucking bottomfeeder wingnut sent me three duplicate payments the day before Thanksgiving. Blustering and taking no responsibility whatsoever for her mistake (being polite and nicely requesting a refund would have been a good start), she comes right out of the gate with threats.

I ignore her. She'll get her money back, when it's convenient for me, not her. I can only work about four hours a day now.

More threats this morning. I snap. I issue her refunds and keep track of how long it took. Then hot on the heels of her refunds, I send a Money Request:

--
Here is your bill for refund services rendered 11/30/05 Amount Due: $20.00

Note: Since errors on your part necessitated the paperwork and effort of refunding three of your errant payments, here is our invoice for 20 minutes' labor (11/30/05, 5:45 am to 6:05 am) at our billing rate of $60.00 an hour.
--

I know she'll end up deleting it but maybe it'll give her a couple bad moments.

Fluff, short fuses seem to be going around this week. I have been letting my email replies sit for at least 3 hours before I answer then because most of the questions I am getting this week are seriously ticking me off.

Add to that a $97 bill for the repair to replace (what should have been a $13)start relay on my 3 year old refrigerator. Then last night at 11 pm, I see sparks and flames. My fridge isn't thing only thing that is burnt up this morning!

Maybe I should give the repairman a bill when he gets here

Well, I can relate. I'm sitting here waiting to get in a pissing match with the person who bought the Arabic plate from me. One look at her feedback and shivers went up my spine. She sniped and paid immediately so I had no chance to cancel her bid. She seems to be the hard to please type.

The most irritating are those "how much is shipping to Outer Mongolia?" types. "Sorry auction is USA only". "Why?". "Because I said so, that's why". "Well, that's not fair". Nope, life sucks.

I just got a double payment myself for an auction that ended last night. She requested shipping and I guess I wasn't fast enough or she didn't like my calculator but she sent payment without shipping and instead gave me her UPS number.
I think I will Overnight it to her and then refund her 2nd payment minus the box I will have to get in order to ship UPS.

Wingnut came back and claimed duplicate payment was PayPal's fault. Oh yeah, I'm buying that one.

In a way, of course, it is PayPal's fault because they refuse to implement a simple "Has this item already been paid for?" check in their software. This is a piece of code so simple my across-the-street neighbor's four year old could write it.

If you put that piece of idiocy side by side with PayPal's long-standing policy of allowing payments to be sent to ANY email address, whether or not it has a PP account attached to it, I believe it's not hard to see that having lots of payments in limbo must be one of PayPal's primary goals. I would love to see how much money they make off the float on our cash.

As for the dishpit, I wished her a Merry F**kmas.

I mean it. I'm not gonna put up with threats any more. If it takes education, so be it.

This just went out in response to a different bidder who just couldn't resist including a "I'll turn you in to eBay" in her WISMO*:

"Your item has been shipped.

"You should allow ample time both ways when mailing in a payment, especially during the holidays.

"It's also not a good idea to threaten people you do business with. If I was really a scammer, intent on keeping your $7.34 and not sending you anything, a threat would have no effect. Since I am an honest seller with over 21,000 positive feedbacks, a threat is just a little bit insulting.

Fluff, Be sure to let us know what she says about the bill you sent her if she does.
I refunded an instant payment that was an overpayment and Paypal took a week to put it back into the buyers account. Paypal's floats and making a killing I think. My buyer didn't even know they had made 2 payments got the item was happy and then saw my personal note about refund and they looked in their account and no refund until about 8-9 days later. Now that sucks wanted to slap Paypal silly.
It is off subject but had to throw it in. I hope your wingnut doesn't file complaint with Paypal and cause your account to freeze up. Paypal needs to protect sellers more than buyers in my opinion.
Good luck hope you get well soon.

LtRay,

You were right; I *was* much too nice.

She wrote back and said, "I could never threaten someone as I am a Christian."

Tee-hee-hee! Ho-ho-ho! Hee-hee-hee!

Then she lied about when she mailed the money order. She claims to have mailed it a week before the actual date ON the money order.

Does no one else find it strange that PayPal does NOT adequately protect the party that pays all the fees that keep PayPal going? Remember buyers pay nothing to use PayPal (according to PayPal PR spiel).
