once you open the program sanmar you will see under the START -> Menu you will see approx. 5 sections? Then when the program is under the bottom left hand box you can RIGHT CLICK and choose to save Pin To Start Menu

Sometimes it comes up in the right click on the regular Start -> Programs and select the item you want to open up.

I have to save Solitare on every computer like that for my DH.

(edited to add)
IF you use the program real regularly - like I do adobe or Endicia and you have XP (windows classic) or Windows 98 - if you choose the right click save shortcut to the desktop THEN - you can drag (the shortcut) it to the Start Toolbar >> IF the toolbar isn't locked.

In mine I'm showing E for internet Explorer, Show Desktop, Spybot, Mozilla, Window Washer, Endicia Dazzle, Photoshop and Outlook.

After you do what toasted said, you can drag the shortcut to wherever you want it... Start Menu, Desktop, Program files, etc.
