Sanmar, in your infinite wisdom (grin) can you tell me when Homer Laughlin's Eggshell Nautilus - Pink Petal - N1769 was made? I have a range of years from 1937 - 1950 but I can't pin it down any closer than that.

Beginning in 1930, HL's backstamp dating system expanded beyond a system that differed by the decades. Many post-1930 backstamps do not have dating information. When post-1930 pieces are dated they have a simple, straightforward 2 digit year designation. Thus: M 57 N-6 would be December 1957 factory N-6. The letter I is not used. You should be able to decipher the dating if it is on your china. As you can see the month is coded by the alphabet, A through M with no I. I would say that your china is not dated, all you have is the factory number.

You are the best. Thank you so much! I looked at other pieces that said J50 and D50 with the NXXXX. Interesting that some pieces were made months before or after others. I owe you dinner next time I am down your way or if you are ever up here!
