Man, this last month has been killing me. Am I the only one? I have had 4 international shipment's that have not arrived yet (over 30 day's), 2 surface parcel and 2 airmail parcel. And then 6 within the US via either parcel post or Priority. I know it's the holiday's but this is getting a little out of hand. One of the domestic packages took 16 day's to travel Parcel Post 80 miles in the same state. I could have walked 80 miles in 4 day's. And to make matters worse, every time I go to the post office to fill out a PS Form 542 (Inquiry about a Registered Article or an Insured Parcel or an Ordinary Article) for the international shipments I seem to get a different counter clerk that has no idea what a form 542 even is. I then have to spend 20 minutes describing the form and what they should do with it and where to find the information on it in the IMM manual. Maybe I need to get a job at the Post Office since I seem to know more about their forms and regulations then they do. Sighhhhhhhh Not much I can do about it though other than file a lost mail insurance claim. Thank God I require insurance on all international shipment's.

Thankfully, and knocking on wood, I haven't had a problem with USPS being slow or packages missing. In all my time on eBay, only one package has gone missing.

I have a package that was sent out on Nov 21st and according to the tracking number my program shows it is held at a standstill in

the JERSEY CITY, NJ processing facility at 10:51:00 on November 29, 2005.

It has been sitting there ever since Nov 29th and according to my post office it could stay there for ever........lol
The building is so big that two 747s could fit into the building......
My package was on its way to SAVANNAH GA 31410-2064

Guess I will ask her to wait another week and then offer a refund, if it does show up I will ask her to resubmit payment......
What else is there to do?

Here is what the scan shows:

Did anyone catch an article recently that stated that the USPS was in the black for the first time in ages? I was teasing the head guy in the lobby yesterday at my post office.
So I asked if you guys are in the black then why are you raising your rates? Of course he didn't or couldn't give me an answer.

OK, I admit it! I am married to a Postal Worker & his advice is: DO NOT SHIP PARCEL POST! Yes, it may be a little less expensive - but you get what you pay for! These packages are at the bottom of priority for carriers to deliver.

BTW - Be kind to your carrier - it is not their fault! Upper levels of management do not want to pay any overtime - so what if there are more deliveries now!

I have experienced longer shipping times since Katrina. I wonder if New ORleans was a major routing place for USPS?? Maybe it's just a coincidence.

I haven't noticed anything on my shipments, but it is just about time to start being concerned about Parcel Post and Media Mail arriving before Christmas. MAYBE we have one more week of "don't worry about about it" shipping.

Oh, don't be ridiculous. USPS is NEVER slow...unless it's a bidder snail-mailing you his payment.

Everything I have bought on E-Bay for the last month has taken a long time to get to me,by that I mean two weeks. I have not had any complaints on what I have shipped, but most of it is going Priority. My stuff has been coming first class.

My recommendation right now - is stick with Priority Mail, if the buyer wants it for Christmas. Avoid Parcel Post.

BTW - FedEx Home Delivery is now quoting 5 days (used to be 4 days).
