I didn't even know they were considering it - glad they cancelled the plans..at least they listen SOMETIMES to their users.

i especially liked that last para:
"Booming sales of pet supplies — and the possibility that users may want a pet listing service — had prompted the company to reconsider its ban on the sale of live animals."

users MAY want a pet listing service? since when? news to me, too. disgusting.

if they want to know what users want, why don't they ask us?

This afternoon I saw a news clip on one of the TV cable stations about this. Good thing Meg has reconsidered.

I can just envision all the posts on Vendio:

Do puppies qualify for media mail?

I have a customer in Canada who won the bid for my puppy, but wants me to put "Used Towel, Value 0 cents" on the customs form so they can avoid taxes, what should I do?

Bidder in North Korea is asking about my puppy. Is it true they eat them there?

If I ship my puppy to Australia via M-Bag, how long will it take to get there, I want to know so I can include enough water.

How do you get a puppy to hold still to photograph it, I've got like, 20 of them here, been breeding them all winter, and its driving me nuts!

Take a look at this auction: PICTURE OF PUPPY IN FRONT OF X-BOX, jeepers, you don't get either the puppy or an X-box, just the picture, and they want $600 for it, plus $400 for shipping. What do you think, is this a good deal?

If it were a pregnant dog, would she have to be listed as a dutch auction?

upriver Answers to your questions in order.

1 Yes, if used as seeing eye dog.

2 No, put value of towel on form, it's your but.

3 Yes, they do eat dogs. At least when I was stationed there in the 90's when in the Army. Had it myself and it is like sweet beef, very good.

4 Depends if you cut 4 holes in bag so it can run to buyer once it get's in country. Water optional and ships at higher rate (buyer pays all fee's).

5 Good luck.

6 WOW, ONLY $1000, definate buy. Request COD shipping and send to MEG at ebay.

good thing they canceled it or PETA would have to throw red paint on their monitors.

Dreadful idea to sell pets on ebay, I'd rather they sell hu-mans than our nice furry friends.

How about a Vendio post like:

"I can't get the cover of my scanner to close when I'm taking a picture of my puppy."

They do have an online puppy site - I think its puppyfinder.com - when we had our last litter I went on there to check the prices of boxer puppies.

No matter what they say, you CANNOT ship a puppy by cargo without it being adversely affected. Especially at 8 weeks which is the week where they experience their fear imprinting. I wont even let mine go in cars at 8 weeks - I let them go at 7 - 7-1/2 weeks to avoid travel during the eighth week.

Can you imagine the number of pets that would end up in shelters if this had happened?! What a crappy idea.

All this talk about shipping pets got me woundering, how do you ship a animal. I know it's done. That's how those cheap puppy mill pet stores get their poor animal's. Did a quick search, I guess you use a service like this. Wow, they even do international shipping. Scarry

They are treated exactly the same as cargo - that's the scary part - the noise is the worst part of it for the pet - the temperature changes can be pretty bad too. Some airlines will let you hold a small pet in a crate on your lap.

My family was on an American Airlines flight to the Virgin Islands for my wedding when we noticed a puppy was a few seats away. My mom is really allergic to dogs and didn't have her inhaler with her, so they let her sit in 1st class - of course I insisted on her not going up there alone! They didn't let us have 1st class food or drink service though.
