Could eBay have admitted what caused the latest round of sign-in snafu's and other difficulties?

Um, YEAH!

Good catch, Wayne.

The bad news is they're going to try again in a couple of weeks.

Translation: Bend over, here it comes again.

Can someone please tell me why any one of those "enhancements" needed to be launched during the holiday season???

eBay *was* going to launch their newest enhancement during the first part of December, but unaccountably failed to do so.

I'm referring, of course, to Ship It Before You List.

Ship It Before You List is the newest strategy for competing with traditional catalogue retailers. When you order something from a catalogue, you still have to wait some period of time -- perhaps even 10 to 14 days -- before your purchase arrives.

But by using intuitive techniques, eBay's SIBYL software divines which eBay buyer should receive the widget you currently have sitting on the floor next to your desk, before that buyer even knows they want it! You receive a shipping alert that you must act on within 8 hours or your mortgage (taken over by Your House is Our House, a wholly-owned eBay subsidiary) is sent automatically into foreclosure.

You are then free to list the item and the buyer free to pay you. Or not.

My spies in San Jose confirm that this program is ready to roll. Can't think what's holding things up.

"causing sign-in issues for a very small number of members"

What a bunch of crap! Everyone I know of was affected by it - why can't they just come clean.
