God, please don't say that. I'm getting ready to launch about 300 auctions.

Mine have been launching smoothly all day up until 7:00 PM then the logjam hit. Finally, 10 minutes late, two came through at once. 7 - 8 PM is a time to avoid during promotions. Not only is everyone trying to get into that "prime time" slot, those same auctions, which could be in the millions, will all be ending during the same period 7 days from now. A stressed system at that time could affect last minute bidders and snipers.

I've only listed a few things once before on a FLD. Things were going well until 7 p.m., like another's here, and then - total silence.

Hey, Lucy. Long time no heard. Nice to see you popping in here.

I was ready to give up on 10 cent day (especially when its fixed price only). I decided not to waste new listings and sent items from my store and relists to auction directly via eBay. It went smoother than silk and I got 1150 relists up in 8 hours, tweaking most of the titles, ending most in 3 day and 5 day auctions. If this doesn't work, I'm swearing off 10 cent day for-evah!

5-day, I can see, but could someone tell me what the point is of a 3-day auction?

Particularly when you can't even count on your item being indexed and showing up in searches for some number of hours after listing?

I just listed my regular 7 day auctions but when you think about it, 3 and 5 days will set your listings apart from the "crowd". I think most people shop "ending soonest" so the duration doesn't matter much . Most of those gazillions listed yesterday will appear together as "ending soonest" next Monday. Jane's on the other hand, will be appearing all by their lonesome on Friday and Sunday (both days should be good ebay shopping days because of the holiday and not many sellers listed 7-day auctions during the week before Christmas). I'll be anxious to hear how it turns out.

3-day and 5-day listings get me on the first page of most searches sorted by ending soonest. I'm in a crowded market with some fools selling the same cards I do for 99 cents. I used 3 day on my foreign relists because they don't do well closing on weekends. I may try Vendio's reviser to extend them to 7 day if they don't have bids. I don't know if this will work or not, but my sell-through rate of 7 day auctions on 10 cent listing days has made it not worth the trouble.

I have not found that to be true at all. In fact, quite the opposite.

Of 53 items I listed yesterday, 23 of them have bids already.

Jane,

I don't understand why you have the same Gallery picture for a whole bunch of different postcards...?

Following that rationale, the folks that watch "newly listed" will bid when the item first is listed (yesterday) and then unless I am "highest priced" or "lowest priced" (I usually don't qualify for either) I am going to be lost in the listings until "ending soonest" where the bulk of my listings will be lost in the crowd next Tuesday.

I tried a new angle in offering "free shipping" during my "customer appreciation week". I used my store header and the extra image I have included in all of my listings (since last fall) to announce the "special". Have to see how that pans out.

I have definitely found it to be true that I sell the most on the first day or the last day of a listing. Even with eBay store items and fixed price listings where timing doesn't matter.

People DO pay attention to the "ending soon" lists, even when there is no benefit to do so.
