This vase appears to be made of porcelain and stands about 6" tall. The rim appears to be gold plated. There is a signature on the bottom that I think reads "ME Fuller 1908".

This is, I'm sure, a hand-painted china vase. I have a lot of plates, cups, and saucers hand-painted by my husband's grandmother around the turn of the century. It was a very popular pastime for women--and it's recently been revived here in the U.S. The initials and date on the bottom of your vase were how the women marked their work.
I'd list it, for sure, starting at perhaps $9.99. Or higher, depending on your wishes.
Edited to add that people bought the china blank pieces, often from Europe, sometimes marked Limoges, then painted the items. They're very lovely.

Thanks,

1908 Hand-Painted China Vase, 6", lovely roses--something like that. You can always abbreviate hand-painted to HP--the collectors know what that means--if you run out of title space.

better yet, call them Cabbage Roses. The shabby chic crowd loves that.

LtRay: This is too funny! When I was first writing the proposed title, I said "cabbage roses," but then I thought some eagle eye in this forum would point out that they're not.
Aren't cabbage roses larger, more spread out, floppier?
Great minds think alike.

I did list it and used cabbage roses in the title as that seems to be a popular item.

I love this type of item - too bad you can't use the Limoges as that's what it brings to mind. Hope you do well with it.

Yes Roadie, cabbage roses are large and loose leaf, but they just sound so romantic.

It's not a vase. It's a cremation urn. Did you check inside it before you listed it?

I think I would take China out of the title. There are too many new repros from China out there and it might cause some people to just skip over your listing. You could list it as antique instead. 100 years old qualifies for glassware.

Not sure if I'm too late to reply, but the vase looks like a Limoges blank - they were very popular in 1900 when the ladies would get together and paint porcelain. I wouldn't have a problem putting Limoges with a ? in the title - the Limoges buyers and collectors will know the vase if it is a Limoges blank. Is there any mark on the base besides the signature?

Caroline,
Thank you for your input. I revised the title to add "Limoges?".

IMO, the winner got the vase cheaply. But, isn't that how it goes on eBay these day?

Actually, I think Marc was lucky to get $26.00 for it. "Just for pretty" things don't go well on eBay.
I've seen these hobbyist ceramics at antique shows. The dealers usually make up some poignant story to generate interest in them since there is no backstamp.

Seeing as how it did not cost me anything and I did not really care for it, $26 was far more than I expected. The buyer was thrilled and so was I. It was a great deal for both of us!
