A few days ago there was a request for a cheap source of packing peanuts. I found a solution. Gals who sell home interiors stuff or candles etc. get shipments every few weeks with the peanuts and probably bubble wrap. Folks who just moved in are a good source for boxes. Most times they just want them "outta here"!
I just hooked up with one on freecycle here in CO.
Freecycle - you ask? - is a Yahoo group designed to keep things out of the landfills. It is all free and is great. You can give and you can get. No strings. After you have given 1 time you can post a "wanted".
Check out your city - you'll be surpised how wide spread it is and what folks give away. I have seen huge entertainment centers, computers down to 1 shower curtian hook. It is like an online garage sale where everything is free.

Good idea! I'm on the Freecycle list here on Cape Cod in MA. Never thought to ask for peanuts and bubbles. The stuff that people are giving away is incredible. They do have a strong request that people who take things don't resell them. It's an honor system I think (unless the moderators spend a lot of time on ebay). Same with our "swap shops" at the Transfer Stations. The signs are clear that you "can't" take them for reselling. But I see a lot of antiquers roaming the aisles.
