Hi! I have a buyer who bought 4 Xmas items, and just now has started harassing me about them. .
I immediately banned her from bidding on my auctions, and guess what??? She tried to bid on another item, saw I had banned her and went ballistic!! She is now threatening to have me thrown off EBay, yada yada!
I have over 700 postive feedbacks of 99.9% even with the negs. she just left me. I filed cases with Square Trade, and let EBay know she has sent me harassing notes via their system (by clicking on the Ask Seller A Question button of my current auctions
I get up this morning to see someone who has JUST JOINED EBay has bid on another of my bracelets. 0 feedback!!! I know it's too late for this auction, but do any of you say in your listings that people with 0 feedback, or less than___ may not bid??? Is that legal?? Thank you for your time!! Sorry this is long!

first sorry your going through a buyer drama I have my own going as well... like we all have time for these bull s--- games!!!!
I would do 2 things:
you have access to the new 0 bidders name and ebay information as a seller. GET IT If it is the same person call ebay and report this hoodlum!
cancel the bid on the braclet and have ebay write to the charmer with to much time on her hands. OR claim your from ebay and call her!OR I will!! I need to give someone a strong arm!
Yes you can say in your TOS no zero feedback bidders.

Yes, it's hard to deal with buyers who have short fuses.
But I just want to say that I've had very good luck in the past 7 years selling to new buyers on eBay. Sometimes they need a little hand-holding to figure out how to pay, etc., but I can't recall even one who was a PITA or who never paid at all. Every situation is different, but you may be cutting yourself out of some good money.
(I know you didn't ask for advice on newbies!)

Roadsmith....Thank you! Though I've been selling for 5+ years, I'm always willing to listen to others here!! You are all a wealth of information! I have never felt this way about 0 feedback buyers before. But because of the current situation, I'm phobic, and I think I am right on this one! Either it's the Evil Buyer bidding under a new name, or she has had someone new sign up and bid for her!!
Is there a way EBay would tell me what city/state this newbie is from????

Hello,
First off is YOUR auction not Ebays, not the buyer. If auction is still active. You can cancel bidders bid for what ever you feel comfortable with. You can block new bidder and THEN e-mail bidder with a NICE e-mail explaining you have had a"Rash" of new bidders not paying and you are trying to sort out the honest but new bidders, ask for an email back with what ever you wish and you then can allow the new bidder to proceed.
If bidder responds and seems legit lift blocked bidder and e-mail that they may proceed if they wish.
In your TOS add "All new bidder with less than 10 positive feedbacks need to contact seller prior to bidding" or some such words.
Cancel and block bidders who don't comply for a while.
Do not let this one jerk upset you.

Oi!
Ralphie & I "feel yer pain..."
Over the years, he & I have tried to stick to the axiom as so eloquently expoused by my favorite barrister, Tom Hagen:
"It's BUSINESS, nothing personal, Sal..." as Sal was led away to the Jersey salt marshes...
A few years ago, I had a customer go absolutely bugsheet on me over her order...
This was back when I was living in BAWHSTAN and selling unabridged audiobooks.
The customer was a REAL BIG-WIG too! She was VP in charge of NORTH AMERICAN operations for a company that virtually ALL of us here use just about every day...
She got her order & then sent me the most INSULTING NASTY VILE REPUBLICAN-LIKE email I've ever received in my life, accusing me of THEFT BY DECEPTION / PIRACY / PLAGUERISM / BAD BREATH, -- you name it, & she called me it!
She was organizing her MANY LEA contacts on an ASSUALT against me & all my descendants for the next 500 years! By the time she got through with me, I'd be incarcerated into the 23 century with BUCK ROGERS...
All this over a $14 order...
I just sent her a very polite (but NOT groveling) email in which I provided her with the provenence of the audioBook, along with telephone numbers and contact persons she should call to assure her of the book's authenticity. I also offered her a REFUND, as long as she returned the book -- I even offered RETURN POSTAGE...
Well, her reply, you would have thought I was a long lost relative or sumptin! Not only did she keep THAT book, but bought many others...
As Ralphie always says: "Humans are STRANGE!"

David...Thank you. Now are you ready for this one?? You know how easy it is to do a little PI work using the internet: The newbie 0 bidder is someone who works on her teaching staff!!!!! She took the first bid RIGHT to my reserve! I don't know now if she is going to have the girl win it, pay and receive it, then claim it is crap and leave me more bad feedback, OR the EVil Bidder just REALLY wants another one!! BTW....I told her originally to just return all of them to me with delivery confirmation and I would refund her money, but she refused! I think she is just a troublemaker. I know I am making myself sick over this and am angry at myself! I will go in, stop the auction and block this newbie from my auctions!! Thank you all SO much for your advice!!!
tOMWii....Thank you, also!! I have SO enjoyed your comments (as well as Ralphie's!) over the years!!!

Use your cell phone on EBay in future. This way you can screen your calls and also turn off the phone if you don't want calls

I am sorry you are having such a bad situation. I would probably have canceled the auction, used the block 0 feedback bidders option and then redone my TOS to state something to the effect 0 feedback bidders welcome if you email me first. Anytime you request bidder contact info they send yours to them as well.
Life is full of ups and downs...take advantage of them all !

I have a policy: New bidders are not allowed to bid on my auctions the same day they signed up. I cancel all bids from such people and tell them why. I don't care who they are.
A problem buyer from months before may wake up one day and decide to vent her spleen on you. That's why I enforce this policy whether or not I currently have another spoiled brat on my hands.
Square Trade is a waste of time and effort.
Do NOT EVER represent yourself as an eBay employee if you are not one. That cute gambit will get you barred from eBay permanently.
I learned the hard way years ago not to use my personal cellphone for eBay when a disgruntled bidder's husband called and yelled at me while I was showing my condo for sale. Get a prepaid cellphone instead and don't use it for anything but eBay. It's much, much cheaper than paying a monthly bill.
Do not expect help from eBay. This is often the hardest thing for a newish seller like you to get accustomed to. You MAY be able to get a miscreant suspended if they use false contact information or make feedback threats in email, but some offenses only merit a warning. You should become intimately familiar with the abuses eBay will do something about and how to report them.

No, you can't block zero feedback bidders.
The options are to block bidders with a feedback score of lower than -1, -2 or -3.
Proof? Go to:
My eBay > Preferences > Selling Preferences > Buyer requirements (show, edit)

Fluffy, Thank you!! I really am not a newbie Seller...have 5+ years of experience, and realize I've been VERY lucky until now! I have NEVER had a bad experience before now!!
I DID complain to EBay about her harrassing emails that were sent via their message reply thingy. I told them I don't want ANY more messages from her. They are "looking into it"!!!
I would never represent myself as someone I am not!! Thank you for the tips, though! I have read your advice, etc. over the years!!! I appreciate it all. As you can see, I am new to the unpleasantries of EBay!!!!!

I didn't say newbie, I said newish.
I don't think length of time on eBay has much to do with experience. Depending on what you sell, it's quite possible to sell 200 items a year and not run into a psychotic nutjob. As well, I'm sorry, but if you didn't know that pulling someone's contact information would provide that someone with yours as well, that means you're newish. The contact info bit is so well known that none of us thought to warn you about it.
Calm down, ease off on the exclamation marks (the usage says "young and inexperienced" ) and we'll get through this.

Will do. I really look up to those of you who are more seasoned members. I know it's hard to believe I've never ever had to use that contact info. before. Now I know. It's really lousy that they don't warn you before you ask for it. But then again....it IS Ebay. Thank you Fluffy.

Your contact info is available to any buyer, so if you don't want a wacko calling you, use a number that is pretty much not going to get in the way of your life.
Next, you should consider blocking the person's email. That should be possible with most email services. I have my own server, and can stop email cold right at the server level. Works well for wackos.
As far as bidding in your auction with a new ID, it is not possible to block a zero feedback bidder, but you can put in your TOS and not sell to them. You might get a neg, but then again if they get suspended within 90 days, that neg will go away. You can either wait for the auction to play itself out and see what happens, or you can cancel the bid and block the buyer (which is what I would do) and move on!

Fluff! I didn't know that pulling contact info ended up providing the requestor's contact info! I haven't had to pull contact info more than a couple of times! And hey! using exclamation points is a whole lot cheaper than reconstructive surgery! Anything to look younger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL (Classic, after Dr. Arc's comments you might want to start using them too)
Just kidding of course but seriously, I didn't know that. A high feedback number doesn't say much about experience either. There are postcard buyers and then there are jewelry buyers. My pc work may be tedious but THANK GOD I don't have to deal with very many flakes! <-oops, I mean ".".

Mary Ann! You look...mah-velous!
Seriously, though, I look at my yellow shooting star and feel like I earned each point of it with a drop of my blood.
I could have picked a worse category to sell in, I suppose, like wedding dresses or video games, but somedays it sure doesn't feel like it.
I'll race you to the turquoise shooting star...only 13,028 feedback points to go for me. Gulp.

I don't know why; you should be feeling pretty darned smart.
I sell more items than you do but your margins are undoubtedly much bigger.
I get something shipped, I've made $4 to $40 in profit. It's usually a lot closer to $4 than $40.

That's true fLuff. In the last few month's I have been trying to sell larger high dollar items. Some day's it takes me a entire day to take photo's and get one listing made and launched but it beat's doing 50 to 100 smaller items.

You veterans were right! The new, 0 feedbacker is now buying cheap "dumb things" to try and get feedback to bid. I moved my TOS to say "no bids with less than 20 feedeback without emailing me first....". I found out this newbie is a teacher on the Evil One's teaching staff!
It wasn't hard to find...she used parts of her own name.
I am going to watch her continue to buy, increase her feedback number, them ban her....with a great big grin on my face. I have a feeling she is not going away anytime soon!
Fluffy...thanks for the compliment, but I bet I am older than you are!

I had a newbie bidder pull my contact info once. He wanted to do the post sale shipping - paying process by phone instead of email. I'm glad now he did. The copy I got from Ebay showed the contact info for both of us. Our area code had been changed a year earlier and I had not updated it with Ebay. I was shocked to see the old area code still attached to my phone number. It's what Ebay would consider invalid contact info. I immediately updated my info on both accounts and avoided a likely suspension.
