Thanks for the heads up. I got a funny confirmed/unconfirmed notification the other day; I was wondering what was going on.

Geez, how long does it take ePay to catch on to things? This has been going on for MONTHS. I get a payment with a Confirmed address, then the next payment is from the same buyer, same ID, same address and it is Unconfirmed.
I've refunded over $300 in payments this month alone because they were from Unconfirmed addresses. Thanks, you morons at eBay!

Confirmed non confirmed !
I have NEVER paid ANY attention to this since it started.
They pay, I ship and use delivery confirmation, insurance, registered mail, etc as I see fit. I think since 1998 I have had perhaps two so called lost shipments.
From my point of view this is just a useless boondoggle.. David

I'm with David. Don't generally care if it's confirmed or not. But in this case, the item he won was pretty expensive, something I was selling for someone else.
Why aren't you raising a stink about the POLITICAL SIG LINE right above ya.
Remember, how "you left this board, etc, etc?"
I got rid of mine because you & Stuffy complained (even though her's was the first I'd ever reacted against...EVER)...OR, do you only complain about ones that you disagree with?
If yer gonna complain about POLITICAL SIG LINES, how about you complain about ALL POLITICAL SIG LINES??!!

David; I have always given positive feedback as soon as I receive payment. I have shipped to unconfirmed address with dc & it has never been a problem. I had one case where the buyer was in VA & I shipped to TN (to her mother).

I'm with you, Lucy. I've never had a complaint or a lost package, shipping to an unconfirmed address. However, if the item is worth more than about $75, I will e-mail the buyer to get it all straightened out. Never a problem, though.

Their is a similar, though according to PayPal unrelated, problem in Australia with previously Verified users becoming Unverified. Understandably some are peeved about it since they were required to pay to be Verified. Fortunately PayPal's Australian unit is registered as a financial services provider (in Aussie) so as several on the eBay.com.au forums mentioned all complaints should be made to the FSA ombudsman for investigation.
According to eBay, the issues have been resolved. Apparently there is a window for SPP when shipping to unconfirmed addresses.
Hopefully this will save a few minutes for those who don't want to ship to unconfirmed addresses.
Excerpted from the announcement:
January 26, 2006 | 11:30AM PST/PT
As noted below, PayPal will treat eBay transactions for which the buyer paid between 1/21/06 until the time of this post as eligible for the Seller Protection Policy (SPP) even if the shipping address was, or appeared to be, unconfirmed. (Sellers must still meet all other conditions of SPP, including the policy's proof of delivery requirement.)

David and the others who ship to unconfirmed addresses:
My EX-partner received a very well-written email about a shipment being sent to the buyer's office rather than their confirmed home address. He thought he would be covered because he put a signature requirement on the shipment. It was for $900. Well, sure enough, a chargeback ensues, and PayPal could not have cared less. Unconfirmed; refund. Period. Next. I think I could have had a video of the guy receiving the package, and it wouldn't have turned out differently.
A few times I've shipped $20-$50 items with an unconfirmed address, but I don't even do that any longer.
I haven't been in an accident in more than 35 years. I still wear a seatbelt.
