Well messed up the title already this morning. Great start to the day.

It should of read--Question about selling used items.

I have a lot of makeup on Ebay right now. The majority is damaged but still usable. I included just a very very small amount of used lipsticks that I have had for several years. I listed these with the advice to not use them for everyday use but they can be used for craft projects or theatrical performances.

I get an email from a seller that says that used makeup cannot be sold on Ebay. She said she got suspended for selling it. I looked on Ebays prohibited items and it does not list anything about used makeup. It's not even listed in the questionable item list.

Has anyone ever heard of getting suspended for something that wasn't on the prohibited list? I don't see any reason why this seller would single me out if she was trying to get rid of my ad. She sells makeup but not the same brands as I do. This is the only makeup lot I have listed.

She's right.

Click on "Help" at the top of any page and type "cosmetics" in the Help search box.

Thank you fluffy. I spent an hour looking for that particular information but couldn't find it.

My auction has less than an hour left so I will just let it go since it has no bids and hopefully won't.

I can understand the reason why they don't allow it. That's why I put the disclaimer on there. Since my auction is about 95% new but damaged lipstick I will just relist it with the new items only.

Thanks again the Great and All-Knowing Fluffy!!

Just an FYI, makeup of any kind that is "several years" old, can be dangerous and should not be used at all. It harbors bacteria that can cause nasty infections.

Actually, meowmix, I didn't know it but your question made me curious.

They really should add "makeup" as a synonym for "cosmetics" in their Help keywords. I wonder why they didn't...

Oh wait. Most eBay programmers are male. I forgot.

I knew that makeup this old can be bad that's why I stated in the auction not to use it as real makeup. Of course theaters do put the makeup on the face. I use lots of old makeup for craft projects, especially blushes.

I went ahead and cancelled my auction early and revised it to list only the new items I had.

Thanks everyone for your input and advice.

I have seen several ads in the past that listed used makeup so that's why I listed mine but now I know not to do that again. I don't want to get suspended just for selling a few items when I didn't know you couldn't.

All my items now are sealed in packages or have not been used if they are opened.

I have been selling makeup for a few years now and have only had a couple problems when I first started but I have since then checked all makeup as I get it in for being tested or damaged.
