I just returned from post office where clerk states that they only method of shipping to Canada and UK is express when accepting Paypal for those 2 countries. Did I read a thread here recently where we had to use a certain form for shipping to those 2 areas so that Canadian or UK buyers could try to do a chargeback. When I tried to process it on Paypal, it only gave me 3 choices not the one I wanted.
Can anyone help before I have to call Paypal which will shoot me off to India or some other off source location.

Hmm, I didn't know that USPS postal clerks worked for PayPal.

They say your memory's the second thing to go, I just can't remember what the first thing is.

Translation- conversations with PO clerk suggested only way to verify international delivery was to ship Express.

IS that correct mamachia?

For all practical purposed there is no such thing as a confirmed PP address on international shipments.

The only way to avoid an international chargeback is to use a shipping method with real tracking and signature delivery.

You do not get that with Global Priority.

Now with all that said, if the buyer has good feedback, has been on eBay longer than 3 weeks and his PP address shows verified, I have no personal problem accepting PayPal for payment.

But there are no guarantees. I just had the pleasure of seeing a French bidder get NRu'd after he failed to pay me. He had been on Ebay for 2 years with over 200 private FB.

Mikes4by4 has a thread about US Customs form number being trackable and USPS indemnity of 100 dollars.

Internationally, I accept PP from Canada and the UK only. When paid with PP, I only ship USPS Global Express Mail. That's the only way to buckle your seatbelt. Driving without wearing a seatbelt is at your own risk.

Yep, they work for PayPal, just like we work for eBay (or wasn't it supposed to be the other way around?).

Actually, when using PayPal or any credit card based payment you can not avoid chargebacks, merely take appropriate steps to minimize their likelihood.

To conform to the PayPal SPP you must send item via online traceable shipper from the US to either the UK or Canada. If item valued over $250, then a signature is required. You might still get a chargeback months later but PayPal will attempt to protect you. No guarantees except taxes and death.

Taxes are not levied for the benefit of the taxed. From the same source, RAH, as When the ship lifts, all bills are paid. No regrets.

With the recent enhancements to USPS international services, courier companies are no longer as competitive. USPS now includes insurance and online tracking to most destinations (except a few Evil Empire™ places like Cuba, North Korea). Plus the added benefit of the USPS Postal Inspectors Mail Fraud unit who actively pursue cases abroad (and at home) - something the couriers won't.

thanks all! I found Mike's thread today. I don't think that most of my buyers will pay for express when my items are mostly low price unfortunately.
I am going to back for the moment not accepting Paypal for International transactions.

(1)
if your overseas buyers want to use paypal, make them take out insurance.
(2)
OR
if you have your own merchant account, fax him a copy of the invoice and make him sign it and then ship it with insurance.
It may not cost much to get a merchant accounT WITH AMEX .
